What can I say I screwed up. On my trip coming home I tore my right bicep tendon. After a few doctors visits, I now have to get surgery if I want any strength in my right arm in the future. I was told yesterday that after surgery I will have a cast for two weeks and a brace for 8-9 months!! I won't be able to straighten my right arm for that long.

Unless someone can come up with a set of high rise set back bars for the bird, I won't be able to ride until next year. Dammit and I just picked up a set of nice stock exhaust that would let me stealthy buzz the neighborhoods.

Anybody got and ideas on how to ride left handed only???

Well that truly sux. But, follow instructions and don't push that arm to heal too quickly. You want to get it back in good condition. I know of a guy who rides with a paralyzed left arm, all hand controls are rigged on the right side. I've also seen a guy who rides at the track paralyzed from the waist down, outriggers attached to his bike for slow speed maneuvering. Do you really want to go thru what it may take to ride with your left arm only?

Sorry to hear that. As others have said, take the time and heal up properly, it will be worth it in the end.

Most likely not! I wouldn't be able to do the conversion myself and if I did by the time it was done it would be winter!

So the ironic thing is my wife said last night "you better get the bike ready for winter storage while you can." Ya winter storage in June.....what's that tell ya? Plus my GTO is laid up with a bad pinion bearing I was going to fix over the winter and didn't. So the only vehicle fun I'm going to have is driving my Freestar "mini-van!" Whoopie me.......................................:stickhorse:

Well the deed is done. I had surgery this morning and got back home about 2 o'clock. The anesthesiologist did a block of my arm which is from the collar bone to fingers I can't feel a thing. Like a 10lb dead weight on my right side. So no pain now. I guess everything went right. Will talk to doc in a week to get fine details. Right now I feel reeeeeal good..............umdaaaaaaa.

I put the bike away yesterday, ran stabilizer thru it on a ride, pulled bat and covered it. I'll go out to the garage often and make rooom rooom sounds to keep me content. Thanks for the comments.

I now know how a one arm paper hanger feels............

Thanks. Yes I plan on doing what the doc says to the T. Wonder if there are protein drinks, certain vitamins etc I could start taking to help the regrowth of bone and tendon. Not to heal quicker per sey, just to heal better/stronger. Hey I've got 8 months to work on it.I'm going to start looking.

    Anybody got any ideas?

I been using arnica Montana since I can remember. It is a herb, not a drug, and it helps with internal swelling, bleeding and muscle soreness.
I've never had any side effects, and don't know of anyone that has. It's available online, GNC, mothers market, the vitamin shop or similar natural supplement stores. It is also available in gel and cream for external use.
I get the cream locally and can send some your way if you want to give it a try.
Last time I ate asphalt, doctor put me out of work for 3 months, I was back in 6 weeks -not a 100% mind you- , but still unable to ride for a while.

Sorry for your pain, but maybe you should get another hobby. I can think of one-spend your time fixing up the Bike that way you won't need to do that when your able to ride again. I do that in the winter time sometimes when its not too cold.
