here is what im thinking.i will remove/repair/replace and store old seat and plastic.
and pinch a couple o nickels and replace with airtech rc30 plastics.the bike in question is my 1986 vfr 700 f2.has anyone attempted this?if so will i need to make extra cuts holes etc,in order for it to not be a waste of time/money,and a ginormous headache..i predict overall it will be a fun project and a good looking bike and will post photos of it.i would love to get your input serious AND otherwise.so shoot away fellow viffers.

there are aftermarket "stock ' skins that you can purchase..... a few sources.... one the skins are really nice but it takes forever and a day to get them.... you can go the route you want to but if you cut wrong............ your out the dough and the fairing

Regarding the old plastics it might be an idea to check that all the mounting points and brackets are not bent or have moved at all, that could be part of the problem. You could even try leaving one of the bolts out. Just a thought.
