Picked up my new ride today. Put around 180 miles on her so she is on her way to being broken in. Plan to do an oil change tomorrow at some point, get those metal shavings out. I will likely use either Valvoline or Castrol 10W-40 and either a Bosch 3323 or Supertech 7317. I'm going to wait till 1500 or so until I switch over to synthetic.

On a side note, the bike is great. I've been trying to stay between 4k and 6k, changing RPM often. I did hit VTEC once by accident(merging into traffic). Aside from that, I have been taking it pretty easy. For a relatively heavy bike, it handles amazingly. It definitely rides nicer than my Z750S, much more comfortable.

I LOVE IT! I hope to be on this board 5 years from now talking about how I love it after 80,000 miles.

Here is the bike I traded...I took off the exhaust, hugger, luggage rack...etc, so if you know anyone with a Z750S, tell them those parts are for sale.

welcome to the club, your vfr looks great. It will be even more enjoyable once you get past that pesky break in. Hitting the VTEC is quite addicting:wink:. Are you planning any other upgrades besides the windshield? The factory luggage is a very popular option, I love mine.

I'd love to do the luggage but after buying this yesterday, it will have to wait awhile. I might want to remove the rear fender....maybe some better grips, possible cruise control of some type...who knows. I'm off to change the oil.

I must say, she does run hot. I think the fan on my Z came on 2 or 3 times in the year I owned it....my fan came on 3 or more times yesterday just at traffic lights, it climbs quick.

Regarding wind screens, I'm 5'9" and I've tried the Zero Gravity touring screen, and this season I went with the Givi touring screen, which I like better than the ZG but I'm still really getting pounded by the wind. (I always wear earplugs.) I find that slab miles on my VFR quickly become fatiguing and something to be endured, then there's the bugs on my face shield to contend with. I occasionally pull over to wipe down my face shield, but within minutes its plastered again.

With either of these screens the wind hits me right smack in the face shield. After riding a 2007 BMW K1200GT (which is admittedly a pig weighing 630+ lbs.) I've come to the conclusion that most any 'sport-touring' motorcycle should at least include the option of an electronically adjustable windscreen. So what if it costs additional money-- most of us have probably spent as much if not more trying to find an aftermarket windscreen that actually protects your head from wind and bugs.

As a 'sport-touring' motorcycle the VFR's windscreen is just too low in my opinion. I'm now thinking about trying an MRA Vario touring windscreen, even though most reviews I've read at this forum seem to conclude that it isn't much better either.
