Nice! Same as mine including the pipe but I'm painted blue with Givi bags. If the suspension hasn't been touched on that bike yet, you wouldn't believe the difference a 929 shock and some front springs make on that bike. I just bought front springs for about $110 at STMsuspension.com He's up in Fort Collins and works the races at HPR.

I bought a 929 shock of ebay for around $30 and fab'd a simple bracket to mount it.

this is my newest bike by far and definitely the first SSSA. This is completely unmolested other than the license plate lite was replaced to an LED thing. When putting it on they missed a couple screws for the tail. Other than that, it's untouched.

I will probably look at luggage at some point, but for now I just want to ride her. The majority of the riding will be commuting 8 miles to work and back. What would the suspension do to all but a city bike that doesnt get pushed in the canyons?

Also, do you know where I can find a seat cowl? lol

Actually, your rear turn signals are not OEM either. They were not integrated into the tail section for a couple more years. Popular conversion many people did to the 3rd gen.

That bike rides like a cruiser disguised as a sport bike. Unless you weight 120lbs, stability in the corners and under braking will be immensely improved. The suspension is too soft so it dives and significantly changes geometry. Changes in geometry mean reduced stability. We're not just talking about canyon here. Would you rather commute in a Cadillac or a Mustang? You'll have to check mine out some time once you've put a few miles on yours. Grab a handful of front brake in a quick stop and notice just how far your front collapses. Maybe they've already been swapped out but I highly doubt it.

Keep on eye on ebay. I believe there are aftermarket ones available as well for reasonable prices but will require paint to match.

Do you have an example of the factory rear section? all of the google images pull up integrated rear. doing another search, I stop seeing the pigtail turn signals after 89, 90 all show integrated rear

    consulted google image search

notice the pod light sticking out for a rear turn signal.

You aren't finding them after 90 because it was a bolt on conversion to buy 4th gen amber lights and swap with the 3rd gen once US vehicle law changed to allow the integrated lighting (or so I've read on internet forums so it must be true)

I found the Givi wingrack and center trunk for a 5th gen on Craigslist for $60 (f'n steal).

The front mount that goes down to the passenger pegs from the 5th worked on the 3rd. Had to fabricate my own rear mounts that attach where the passenger grab handles bolt under the seat. Finding VFR parts on CO craigslist is nearly unobtainium compared with California. Then the side bags turned up on craigslist with tubular mounts for a Kawi or something (around $100 I think). The bags fit and I've saved the tubular mounts to adapt to my DR at some point.
