Like I said earlier, it's high quality, bought via the UK importer and it only took 9 weeks to get here. They had said 3-4 months.
It's also heated but not with the same kind of thermostat that my gloves have: that one (Baehr) just gives you full blast when you switch it on, making your hands nice and warm after a stop for fuel or something. Then it goes to its normal setting which you can change to higher or lower with a switch and a LED indicator.
So no, the Corbin seat just heats up until after 10 minutes you want to switch it off. I wanted the heater coz in winter my bike always had ice on the seat after a late shift.

However how Corbin thinks bike owners like to connect their electric accessories is baffling: you take off the fuse box lid, pull out the 'acc' fuse and put their connector in there. It has its own fuse but sits much higher than your lid allows so it won't close anymore no matter what. For this they say just put your lid on loosely and use the rain cover supplied with the seat. The result is pathetic so I'll be changing that as soon as I had a chance.

I kept the design very simple. The top is leather and the sides are vinyl. That chrome or stainless steel ornament on the switch looks gay so it has to go. Not being homophobic, it's just that this bike isn't a Harley.

Attempting pics...Ah I need to make them smaller. D'oh!

That is a pretty cheezy setup for attaching the heater. I just ordered my Corbin this week. I would have ordered sooner but somebody there screwed up and I waited a week for material samples that never showed up! I had to call again to get them sent. So I ordered the same seat, without heat, plus the oval backrest and the 4 liter glove box (unpainted). I chose the "High Gloss Carbon Fiber" for the seating areas, "Asphalt" for the side panels, and a "Silver Carbon Fiber Leather" welt for seat and backrest. I told them the wife and I are leaving on a motorcycle trip in a month and I MUST have the seat before then! This will be my 5th Corbin seat in 15 years or so. I like their products, but their customer service is really bad and they don't seem to care. They're arrogant and they know people are going to buy their products even if their service sucks. I wish there'd been another option for me. I'l post pics once it gets here next month.

I have a Corbin for mine. I sent it back twice for adjustments hoping to get it better. It still sucks for me....I only use it for riding two up because of the backrest the wife wanted. The stocker is all day comfortable for me. Mostly, I got tired of dealing with Corbin on how I wanted the seat. This is the first Corbin seat I've had I've bene disappointed with. It slams my nuts into the tank...the rear of the pilots seat is to high and they just wouldn't make it right without me having to keep paying for it...no biggie I knew their policy when I bought it.

Yeah the 'junk getting squashed' is not entirely gone I've noticed. Never knew their customer service sucks. Then again, this is my first one in 32 years and I don't have much to complain about, just the way they want me to connect the electrics.

Since Week Two, I've been using some Bead Riders (like the taxi drivers useBeadRider - Beaded Motorcycle Seats, see ) for the sole purpose of RAISING the seat a little bit (to get more leg-room without having to drop the pegs; I'm a little over 5'11" with a 34 inch inseam, so mostly LEG).

The beads have a positive side-effect that they are quite COOL in the Houston Summer (think Sau-OOO-na), and they are quite a hoot since it's easy to slide over and hook a knee in corners.

It isn't perfect, and it looks funky, so I'm wondering (a) if Corbin can make a TALLER seat, and (b) how much it costs?

Truthfully, I just need to make a custom-fit Bead Rider so I can keep the testicular climate control. Sorry, just wanted to say testicular.

Depending on how long you've had the seat and if you bought it new from them, they'll do one "adjustment" at no charge. That's where mine is now, although I'm pretty pissed about the whole thing. They didn't make it the way I asked the first time around. I had it less than one week and sent it back to them. They've now had it in their possession for two weeks and haven't done shit with it. I called them today and explained for the third fucking time what I want them to do to make it right. Not exactly holding my breath. So yeah, THEORETICALLY they'll fix it once for free...or at least make some half-assed attempt to fix it. May the force be with you.

I bought one Corbin for my XR650L, it's OK, and had another on a BMW K100 that was really nice. I tried to get Corbin to explain how their outrageously expensive pillion seat might mount to my '66 BMW R60/2. They were truely clueless and uncaring.

I ended up getting sheepskin from Alaska Leather for under $100 for the /2's solo seat, and Corbin's sooo-comfy-looking solo and pillion seats remain, probably permanently, a dream to me. The sheepskin works out quite well actually . . . so . . . f Corbin . . .

    Befbever,
Do you find it more comfortable than the stock seat on long rides ? I did a 900 mile round trip ride two weeks ago, the stock seat was torture. I purchased a Corbin for my 1998 SuperHawk; liked it alot. Regards , GB.

wow, you don't like the stock seat, huh ?? i think it's really comfortable..i've done 300 mile days.... i have a Corbin on my 83 Interceptor and found it moves me too far forward and locks you into one position...really changed the fore/aft weight balance...harder to wheelie

lshark, I really wish it weren't the case, I don't want to spend the money on an aftermarket seat, but yeah it's really that bad for me. I purchased my last bike in Richmond, Va. (family lives there), rode it back to Pittsburgh, Pa.. That's a 400 mile trip. Half way home I was dying, major butt burn . Went Pittsburgh to Richmond this time ( round trip, with side trips ) same reaction. I guess it's like a mattress , too hard or too soft. I not a very heavy guy either. Regards Dewd!

Corbin is a love hate sorta thing. But for me, I had a stock off the shelf heated seat from Corbin in less than a week. It's okay, much better than the stock Honda seat so that's a plus. However the heater doesn't have an adjustment, in and of itself this isn't terrible; but the seat gets so hot that you have to keep turning it on and off on longer trips during the winter months. Now after putting about 6,000 miles on the seat I had to take it off the bike all together as the way the pan and support is is killing me on the inner thighs to the point I can barely walk after a short run. Now the good news, we all have an other option. In California there is a company called "Russell Day Long" google them and take a look. I put one of these on my ST1300 prior to upgrading to the VFR1200 and loved the seat. They will want photo's of you on the bike, one and two up. They will ask for height, weight, and inseams etc etc.... They literally build you seat with your original seat pan from Honda. Those if us who bought Corbins still have our Honda seats somewhere (Unless you sold it in E-Bay), and can order a really good seat without losing any riding time. The only reason I got the Corbin was I needed a seat right away form a long trip and I didn't want to wait (Shame on me). Check them out I think for those that hate Corbin this is a really good alternative.

Is it me, or is that rear tire wider than the stock? It looks like a 200/50?

    It's you.

That'll have been the Michelin Pilot Road 2. 190 just like stock. I had asked the tire guy if the rim would support a 180 coz I had chicken strips but he obviously ruled it wouldn't so it's the stock size.

Since then I had the rear shock replaced under warranty and Pilot Powers fitted which I truly love. They're at 4k miles now and will probably be replaced soon, depending on how much rain they're gonna dump on us. Which was a lot this week.

As to the Corbin, I used the heater 3 times this week so winter's getting closer. It remains very comfy, maybe even more than when it was new as the leather sets. As I always wear Cordura, I tend to slide backwards on the seat during hard acceleration. I think wearing leathers you wouldn't have that.

That's a great setup you have there.. I just returned home from spending a week in Blairsville, Ga.
I was able to put some twisty mileage including some Dragon time on her.
I really like the way she handles; albeit, maybe not quite as we'll as my 6th Gen, but certainly left a great impression.

My next move is to get some Continental Road Attack 2's. When I had the Road Attack Sport Mileage tires on my 6th Gen, My confidence was taken to new heights. If they don't live up to my expectations on the viffer1200, then I will move back over to some Michelins.
