My bike doesn't idle...

    Hey folks,

I bought my first bike just a couple months ago: 1994 Yamaha seca II. It ran great when I purchased it. But, I'm kind of an idiot cause I road the bike while the choke wasn't completely closed. Now, I can turn the bike on and the engine sounds great, but I have to keep reving it or else it will just shut off. It won't idle at all.

I checked the battery, air filter, oil levels, and spark plugs and everthing seems fine. I also run some highly refined gasoline through the engine (that $10/liter stuff). I probably screwed up the choke settings. The manual says that the pilot screw setting shouldn't be adjusted unless I plan to overhaul the carburetor because it was set at the factory.

Does anyone have any good advice for a novice?

    Cheers,
    Ajay

There wouldn't be a "fast-idle ramp" in the choke mechanism would there? The base throttle position may have been accidentally resting on that when the idle speed was last set. If the real throttle plate adjustment is/was not set properly, it may simply be set too low. Whatever it is, it shouldn't be too hard to simply make it idle faster (I said "faster", not necessarily "smoother";-) )
