BOOM! It was an instant death. Got my spare to work in the mutilated holder to get me home. I've seen these blow many times, but they just blow normal from waht I've seen. What do you supposed caused the super nova fuze explosion?

Big +1 here, these fuse holders have a known history of getting loose and having a bad connection. Causing massive heat buildup and failure of the fuse holder and the attached wires. Cut out that fuse holder and the connector nearby and wire up a new one. I used a mini fuse holder with a 30A mini fuse for mine and it's working just fine, no more melted connector and no blown fuses. Mine's been repaired for probably close to two years now without failure. Just make sure you get a "sealed" fuse holder capable of handling 30A. The bigger the wires coming off that thing the better.
