ok guys i need a little help here. i have a 2000 vfr yes the yellow one. it was running great till today. yesterday i took a ride but before i gassed up as usual. then off i go. about 20 miles into the ride the bike isnt firing on all 4 cylinders . losing power . im thinking a fouled plug or bad gas . maybe regulator rectifier. i checked my battery and its charging . i had a bad reg-rec on my 94. i put some stuff my buddy gave me in the tank to take water out if thats th problem . its almost like im running on 2 cylinders then it will go back to all 4 when i crack the throttle briefly . then loss of power again. has anyone had this happen on thier viffer? your input would really be appreciated.

you canemail me here or at pugmahorn@verizon.net
    thanks tom lloyd

    Hi Tom.
It sounds like the same problem that I had on my 2000mdl.But prior to that happening I disconnected the pair set up,and had a go at the starter valve sync. Then the results were similar to what you are discribing. But in the end it just cleared itself out?I think it was maybe a fuel starvation issue,or some bad gas?Or maybe the fuel filter was clogged with something?
But like I say mine just cleared itself.
That`s probably not much help, but try some injector clean as well.
    Hope it sorts itself out.
    Regards Robby.

I would agree with Robby. I would start with some fuel injector cleaner. If that works or improves things, it's probably plugs or dirty injectors. If it's the plugs, it's a 30 minute job.

If the injector cleaner doesn't do anything or makes it worse, it could be the fuel filter or sediment in the tank. Shine a light into the tank and look for rust or crap.

If either of those isn't the issue, start looking at your o2 sensors.

If any of that isn't the issue, you've eliminated the cheap stuff & then it gets more in depth.

    KC-10 FE out...

thanks for the feed backi aprreciate it! but I figured it out and its really quitea funny story. after posting here I went and bought plugs at my buddy,s shop , then put injector cleaner in. im pretty good on bikes so i decided to start trouble shooting the viffer. first i checked the ram air box and filter . I open the box and guess what!!! lol I had a damm field mouse taking up residence in my air filter lol !!! the damm thing was living large in there . good thing the filter is flush over the injectors.. took out his mouse condo, put in a new filter, new plugs , retimed it. and fired it up!! beautiful .
i took it for a quick blast and it ran like a jet. big diffrence. i have pics of this but dont know if i canput it here. the video is on my phone . its pretty funny to see. is there a way i could send to the vfr site or a members phone to upload it here? anyway I really
am thankful to all of you who responded here to my question. maybe i shouldchange my handle to v-mouser lol!!! thanks guys
