    Hi Gang.

Well, the financial stuff has finally kicked me in the backside a bit, and the most practical thing to do is to sell the VFR. I waited fifteen years to buy one, and only had it a year and one half. Easy come, easy go...

It is listed at $7000 in the classifieds, but I am inclined to be flexible to avoid the upcoming insurance renewal / pro-rated rip-off stuff.

So if anyone has any interest, let me know. Thanks!

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! Please please say it ain't so brotha! It is all because of me canceling Reno last year, isn't it??

Seriously, if at all possible, I would advise against it, unless you are on the verge of being kicked on the street and starving. You will regret it boss.

NOOOO!!! This thread makes me sad, I planned to meet up with you at Raymond's Bakery this spring since we only live 6 miles from each other, damn economy has so many people on the edge these days and were all just a loss of income away from being in the same situation, good luck with the sale :tsk:

I knew there was a reason I liked this place; there are a lot of good people on it! Thanks, all, for the kind words. I still have my SV650 and my old 1100F, so it isn't ALL bad.

I should have asked this in the original post; does $7000 seem like a reasonable asking price? I thought it was, but so far nobody cares. There are one heck of a lot of bikes for sale at this time, but few VFR's.

Can't you sell the "roaddog" instead??

7k seems like a good price to me. I know it is probably in immaculate condition, so that is probably under priced. Folks are gonna try and low-ball you anyways.

This is sad Dave...hey, if I ride up to Reno to meet you will you keep the ole girl???

This has got to be a tough decision for you. At least you're not without a bike altogether. The economy is really taking it's toll on everybody. My company announced yesterday to it's 1200 employees that there will be no merit increases for this year - just when they were due. At least I didn't have the money spent, but with inflation, I now make less money than I did last year. I do applaud you for being proactive with your finances. Good luck and I hope it all works out.

Well, I have decided that the bike will have to stay, after all. It will be a bit thin financially, but that's the way it is sometimes. If I get desperate enough in the future, I'll offer it at a fire-sale price.

Until then, I owe drewl a riding day and lunch or dinner, and derstuka owes me a meet-up in Reno. Better yet, derstuka can ride up to Reno and the three of us can go riding. And I'll still buy lunch or dinner. The back tire isn't THAT bald yet...

Oh, and R.W. should come along, too. Hmm. Maybe I should sell the bike after all...

I was going to echo everyone else's ideas and say NOOOOOOO!!!
I am glad you had a second thought. 7k seemed a bit too low for an asking price. If you sold it for 7 I would still think it would bring more but what do I know!?

Scrimp in other areas...just don't sell Mr. VFR!

Thanks, Nungboy. What really changed my mind was that I also had it on Craigslist, and it really annoys me when people try to take advantage of an already difficult situation. We are all dealing with comparatively challenging times, and greedy people just piss me off.

Besides that, I do like the bike. And VFRShorty needs a bike. Next time I think about selling it, I'll sell it to her really cheap, and run an ad on Craigslist to let the less-than-honorable people know what a good deal they missed...

The thing is, you take such a HUGE hit when selling a bike after buying new. I only realized that when I was considering trading in the VFR for a Triumph Daytona 675. I couldn't believe the depreciation. I have found ways to both cut costs in the past and also increase revenue (odd jobs).
    Ya gotta keep it, bro!
