Last night was tragic for my 20 year old friend Tyler.... about 20 motorcycles were out at a local high school goofing off in the parking lot. The police got called and when they showed up everyone scattered.... they focused on one of my friends who decided to run on his Yamaha. No helmet, No jacket, NO GEAR.... the speed is unknown but he was heading down a street that leads to my house and there is a slight curve. he took it to fast running from the police officer... hit a pole, a tree, then slung 100 feet into the air over a metal fence... he had passed away at the scene from massive head trauma... He also had only a permit which really doesnt mean too much but shouldnt had been riding nor Running from the police at night. the worst that coulda happened was he would have probably gotten a ticket for mischief or something... i would rather have a ticket or a buddy with his bike in the impound then one that i will never see or ride next to again.... this is just absolutely tragic... i dont know what to say or think but it makes me worry that everytime i get on my bike could be my last because his family and girlfriend and friends will never see him again. Sorry to hear about your friend, man. It's never easy to lose someone you know and/or care about. Maybe some good will come of this by reminding others not to run and to wear their gear. You have my condolences, bro.
Sorry to hear about your Bro. Just make sure you and your group don't let him die for nothing. Make sure you wear your gear and don't ride above your ability. R.I.P.
I am so sorry for the loss of Tyler, his family as well as you must be crushed. A friend of ours went much the same way wheeling in a parking lot up 3 gears and not paying attention to the curb that launched him 40 feet into a dumpster, no gear, no helmet Great guy made the ultimate mistake, be careful out there bro. Will say prayers for him.
I know how much sudden new like this sucks!. Keep your head up and Im sure we are all pulling for you and so sorry to hear the news. The good thing is you posting up and talking about it as much as you can. This really helps other people to see what happens when the wrong actions are taken. Take care.
Very sorry for your loss. Apply the lessons learned where you can. That PLUS good decision making. Can't have one without the other although wearing gear is certainly a good start.
well with me using my gear i dont know if you saw my other posts but i have had 2 drops and ever since then i have been wearing my jacket, gloves, and helmet. or at least always my helmet. i just hope my buddys will too. cause some of them have some really nice helmets with cool designs but still hook them to their seats. maybe after this things will change. i hope. we love to ride and cruise but i want to be safe to. thanx for everyones concerns. i love the VFRworld Community. i have said that many times. thanx all. and ride safe.
SOrry to hear about the loss. It's a tragedy no matter what happens if it's a death that could have been avoided with a few easy decisions. It's yet another reminder of how fragile this life is. Take good care of it.
It is a really awful way to learn a lesson. I lost 8 friends before graduating from high school and that's in a home town of 3713 people. I got familiar with death early on. It was not fun. I feel for you.
It sucks that someone died. On the other hand, this should be a lesson for any dumb squid out there. Read this & learn it. No matter what you've done, running from the cops will only make it worse. It's better let them arrest you & try your luck in court than to end up like this. KC-10 FE out... lane:
very true man. its not like they will keep you forever because they have better things to move onto like robbery and stuff.... sometimes i wonder what goes on in anothers head..... like what were you thinking.
reminds me of many moons ago, when I was just out of high school 3 local kids were riding on a bike -- yes all 3 were on one bike state trooper passing thru town saw them (town didn't have it's own police force at the time, too small, we paid the staties to respond & do the occassional drive thru) of course they knew they were in trouble if I remember correctly they were all 15 or 16, bike was unregistered, no one had a licence, no helmets (allthough that wasn't illegal at the time) probly just going from one friend's house to anothers, on a bike that was normally ridden on all the trails anyway, ran from the state trooper, didn't make it around a corner, went wide into the guardrail and/or woods all 3 dead at the scene CT wasn't chasing motorcycles for a while after that couldn't really say anything myself, I had run from the police more than once at that point, successfully, on foot, on bicycle, and on the back of a motorcycle (my mom wouldn't let me get one of my own, not that we had the money at the time anyway)
Losing a close friend is tough - my son's middle name is from my buddy who died too young. Sorry to hear you are going to go through this. Peer pressure works both ways 2K - you can influence your friends or you can fit in. The cost of fitting in can be expensive.
