Hey hello new to the forum. I have a 2003 vfr was looking at the mounting kit for the Givi v35 sidecases plx 166. Do you need your rear fender/license plate mount to attach the tubular kit cause I don't have one I got a improvised plate holder?

And for the OEM bags, you definitely need the fender/license plate mount.

The OEM bags include a new rear fender bracket that replaces the original fender bracket. Although the instructions have you reinstall the plastic fender, it can also be permanently removed. The remaining hardware that is part of the original fender assembly, including the license plate bracket, license plate light, bolts, spacers, and nuts are not essential to mounting the OEM bags since most of them are replaced with the new hardware. The only exception are the two M4 nuts that are on the backside of the fender, which are easily sourced from any hardware store. So the original fender assembly is unnecessary, except to keep the bike legal you'd want to keep the license plate light.

Several forum members with an aftermarket license plate bracket have installed the OEM bags without a problem.

Just so you know, Givi I believe make the Honda OEM and should be identical. I strongly suggest that you put everything on loose at first then tighten all the bolts after all have been put in place. The fit is not exact match to the bike it seems. But it will go on and work well.
