Modified vfr750 Headers/exhaust pipes on vf500

I have been looking for exhaust options for my 86 vf500. I was wondering if anyone has taken thought of modifying a vfr750 exhaust (95 model with no muffler) by cutting and rewelding the header pipes. It seems like the exhaust would tuck under the oil pan nice if you could make a custom pipe for top half of header to fit 500's. Has anyone here with both a vfr750 and vf500 tried comparing the two headers? If the pipes arent too large for the 500 seems like its very possible, not sure how it will hurt performance though.
