Hi, already have a thread going regarding Powerlet connectors, here's another one:

My 6th gen VFR has 20,000 miles, Honda hard bags, Heli-Bars, Sargent seat, Pilot rubber.

    Looking for recommendations/info for:
Frame Sliders: i've seen various types but do not know which require cutting bodywork etc.
Power Commander V: probably end up buying a used one off of a VFR for around $250. Is the "V" the only one for the 2002? Anything to watch out for? Wiring harness differences?
Rear luggage rack: There seems to be slim pickings for the 2002, the few that i found look like bark busters, not accessories for a classy bike. Or too flimsy to hold a trunk.
Rear trunk: big enough for 2 helmets (no bigger) with padded back rest.
    Air cleaner: K & N etc?
GPS/Phone mounts: One that either uses the center cap of the triple clamp or the 2 bolt north of the tank. I've seen photos of both types and wonder what exists for modern phones such as the Kyocera-Verizon Brigadier phone. What is a "Ram" mount?
Voltage Regulator: what brands/suppliers are the best?

I apologize for the broad range of threads my questions range over, i will be using comments here to supplement poring over existing threads at the same time. The main reason i am going ahead with this multi-pronged approach is to get current info on issues, strange that a 2002-2013 bike is getting harder to outfit.

First off, for my opinion on frame sliders please read my signature.
For luggage rack and trunk, I have the OEM rack and trunk. It holds two full-face helmets or if need be, at least 50 12oz. cans of beer. I don't recommend you carry those 50 cans due to the weight limit per the manufacturer though.
I use OEM air cleaner and it works just fine for me.
GPS, what's a GPS? I've never used one and have found great roads and interesting places by getting lost. Running out gas may add to the experience.
I don't use a power commander and have not had any issues with the OEM voltage regualtor.

Google search took4 seconds to find these "Ram mounts"
    https://www.rammount.com/products/motorcycle#/

As for frame sliders anything faster than a tip over at walking pace will usually result in the mounting point for the slider being damaged and as a lot of them use use expensive engine to frame bolts etc I personally will not ever fit them

I have a PC 3 usb on my 2004 6th Gen with "Cozeys" map works just fine

Get a decent Gps if you need one then you will only need to mount it with a single ram mount and your phone can stay in your pocket and be controlled via the GPS via bluetooth (less clutter around the bike this way)

I have a Givi FZ166 mono rack with a V47 top case and I can get 2 full face helmets in it

Factory OEM air filter for the win

Stock reg/rec seems to be holding up so far at 55,000kms Just install a voltmeter to keep an eye on what is happening

And maybe spend a rainy day in the shed inspecting and cleaning the wiring loom and connectors

Thanks Grumpy, I'll probably pass on the sliders until i hear of a better mounting design. I'm going to use my Kyocera Brigadier phone for GPS, just need to find a mount that works with it and mounts to the bike well. Is the Givi case rated for volume? I noticed some are given in liters.
