I had to ride through some rain tonight, then survive the wonderful road spray from cars. By the time I got home my VFR looked like I had been off road

Anyway I started looking around to see how nasty it was, and I noticed something weird on the inner fairing (the dark plastic piece behind the front tire, between the left and right outer fairings). It looks like the edge of the plastic near the left front exhaust runner has melted a little bit.

Is this common? Has exhaust heat melted or deformed anyone else's inner fairing?

The plastic wasn't gooey or especially warm when I checked it, so apparently it must've been a pretty unique situation for it to melt like it did.

I just gave it a try... this is the best I can do with the available lighting in the garage. Hopefully you all can see it clearly enough:
