I searched through most of the previous posts about plates being too big. The maryland tags have a website at the bottom, 6 letter, and about 0.5 inches of blank white border on the left and right. I even slid the CW fender elim. kit back with a bracket and it still won't fit. I ended up bending the sides down, arching the plate, and using really long screws to hold the plate on.

The whole set-up is kind of loose and flimsy...any suggestions? Is this just Maryland tags or am I missing something?

I actually had the same issue with my PA plate although nowhere near the level as you. I ended up using a belt sander to trip down my plate evenly until it fit properly. I'm talking a centimeter or two here, not inches. Sounds like you have quite a bit to shave off. Definitely need the photos.

My Missouri plate was too wide to fit between the stock pipes so I cut the plate down. Hopefully this won't look bad with the new Leo Vince carbon cans.

There are like 3 or 4 states that for some reason have a larger motorcycle plate than all the other states. Perhaps MD is one of them. I would hesitate at cutting or bending too much of the plate, even if it doesn't interfere with the letters/numbers, you may be in violation of some legal code about modifying the plate. Could be minor, could be something where they could really bust your chops if they wanted.

Maryland is compensating for the small size of our state with larger motorcycle license tags. I do not know what Missouri's excuse might be.

I installed the Leo Vince carbon cans tonight and as suspected I had to re engineer my homemade fender eliminator. Stupid states and their too big license plates.

I have a friend that came up with a, maybe not so legal, solution. He made a very nice Photo Copy of his Maryland Motorcycle License plate and reduced it in size to fit the eliminator. Unless you walk right up to it and take a very close look, it is really hard to tell it in not the real thing. It has been at least five years and no tickets yet.
