So I took my gen2 on a Malibu run this morning, along with 10 other assorted crotch rockets (R1's, R6's, and a couple CBR's). ride was goin' smooth, took the 60 freeway out to some state highways, ended up riding Topanga canyon... things were great, took Pacific Coast Highway (aka PCH) to Malibu canyon and started climbing... about halfway into our canyon run, I came into an unmarked turn way too hot... I was trying to catch up to my group, who'd gotten a bit ahead... Anyway, I came in too hot, had to brake, ended up low-siding it... guy behind me on a brand new R6 high-sided right behind me, apparently he came in too fast as well... So I get up, stand up the bike, help him get his upright... my group had by this time noticed I had gone down, and had doubled back... right then, friggin' Jay Leno rolls up on his Y2K, and slows to ask if everything's ok... we all just stared, and he pulled away <insert EPIC FAIL here>...

    List of damages:
-1 left side fairing, scratched beyond rcognition, cracked at bolt points. (this plastic was secured with zip-ties I had handy, but later ended up being ripped off by wind and subsequently tossed off a cliff)
-1 front headlight fairing, scratched and cracked at bolt holes
    -1 shifter, snapped off
    -1 bar-end slider, shaved
    -1 helmet, scuffed

Ended up having to ride it home (2+ hours) with a snapped-off shifter... but hey, it ran all the way home... and now, I found a great site that'll be able to replace my plastics: Motorcycle fairings, bodywork, fairing, seat, lower, fender, race tail, race body, rear hugger, fuel tank, air box, custom fairing and cafe racer;. has plastics for EVERYTHING. check em out...

That sux, Pyro. Glad to hear you came out alright.

A couple of tips(just cuz I can): Ride your own ride. Don't get crazy trying to keep up with everyone. Keep your eyes on the road ahead(is there a way you could have judged the corner better before you got into it?)

Leno was riding the turbine bike, yes? That thing is friggin sweet.

Can not be the turbine cause that bike can only go for 10 miles radius. He is to far from home:rolleyes:

Sorry to hear you went down Pyro, but I'm glad you didn't get hurt. Could have been MUCH worse. Drewl's advice is excellent. Always ride your own ride. If they leave you behind, they're not the people you want to ride with anyway. My two pesos.

+1 on Mr. Den's comments which is also a +1 or 2 from Drewl's comments... When you ride like me and are always getting left behind you learn that you're going plenty fast because you don't have others around you to judge your speed! :thumb: If their worth anything they will wait at a junction or slow up to make sure noting is wrong. Glad you made it without too much bodily damage.

Well some fool cut me off on the 710, front end damage sounds similar with minor scrathes on the left side. I just got the estimate from the shop & it'll be $3600 with labor. Glad u r ok but I've been on that ride befor (on my CBR600) & trying to keep pace with them on a bigger bike is foolish. Knee dragging if possible but not at these prices. Stay safe & have fun.

yup... hey, anyone know where I can find a replacement shifter? would one off a newer model work, or do I need to find one that's gen specific?
