Does anyone know and would kindly break down the list for all the materials I will need to make my own VFRness for my 2002 Honda VFR800A? I’ve tried looking every where for one but haven’t had any luck

    First post? Well then, welcome..
But as they say technology marches on.....the VFRness used to be a goto solution.....10 years ago..
So plz....if you upgrade to the current R/R improvements, the VFRness is not required.

Hi Jonathan and Welcome to the Madhouse:Welcome:

When you get time please add a post in the Introductions thread and say Hi to the rest of the folks on here. Tell us a bit about your riding history and your VFR. The folks on here like photos so don't forget to add a photo or two of your motorbike. It is easy just click the Upload a file link and follow the prompts then use More Options to choose how you want the photo to appear. You may also want to update your forum profile(at the top of the page) to include an approximate location - city/state is ample - that way if you need help with a problem you may find someone living nearby offers to swing by and offer advice or even pick up a wrench - especially if you have a well stocked beer fridge:drink:.

As for VFRNess I fully agree with Mello - it has been overtaken so don't bother. The right answer is to invest in a decent Shindegen RR (check out the ones available from Roadstercycle.com - (for a 6th gen ask for extra cable) but it is too easy to think that simply finding and replacing one faulty component is all you need to get your bike running OK.

Unfortunately the charging system is an integrated and interdependent system so a fault with the RR can potentially damage one or all of the other components of the charging system (RR,Stator, Battery, Loom). So before assuming the bike is fixed, please carry out the tests in Post #9 on this thread

    https://vfrworld.com/threads/how-to-fix-common-regulator-stator-failures.39277/

Which also explains you really need to carry out the tests twice - once with the bike cold and then again after taking it for a decent ride to get everything hot - because things like insulation on stator windings can actually pass OK when cold but can fail when really hot and instead of charging the bike can start to drain the battery.

Good luck - let us know how you get on.

    Welcome

Here are a couple of pictures of an FH020HH RR mounted with one of Meo Dudes adapter plates. I used the Roadster kit. I bought a VFRness but didn't use it, I went with the Roadster kit instead.
