I want to lower the seat height 1.5 to 2" on my '04 VFR, non-ABS. I know it is possible to lower the suspension to do this.

    1) Has anyone done this?
    2) If so, what are the pros and cons?
    3) How is it done?
    4) How big a job is it? Is it something a mechanical engineer with a bike stand can do, or is it better left to a professional who has done it before?
    5) If left to a professional, does anyone know of someone in southern California that does this?

    Thanks

    John

I would try your best at removing some of the seat foam in order to lower your seat height. Lowering the suspension alters the handling & clearances of the bike and I would not recommend lowering a bike that much which will be used for twisty road riding. Just my opinion.

I am not sure if any place would do that for you either. They might be worried about liability if it could cause you to crash and sue them.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

You can try checking out this page:
    http://www.thurn-motorsport.de/html/fahrwerk-rc46_2.html
Toggle down to part number 08-UHS246.
This kit will lower the lower the seat height 1.37" at the center of the rear wheel. Note this kit also comes with the shortened kickstand which you will need too.

To get additional lowering distance you can buy a Sargent WorldSport seat that will lower the stock seat height about another 0.5" - 1".

    I hope this helps.

    Suspension lowering

Hi guys - thanks for the input - I really appreciate it. I am indeed worried about the handling and what it will do. However, I'm not a peg-scraping kind of rider, so I suspect I can afford to loose a bit of ground clearance without any problems.

    Thanks again!
