just got a 07 vfr 800. I could really stand about 1 inch lower. The dealer seems o be hesitant and is having all kinds of trouble finding a lowering kit. Hyperpro.com says replacing the shock is the best, although most expensive, way to go. Do I spend the $600 or so or keep looking?

To avoid messing with suspension......I cut my foam down on the seat on my '06'almost a inch. If you are considering a seat up grade (corbin or sargent), like many do, just have a custom seat made to bring the height down and inch or so. Just my 2 cents.

On the 6G isn't the chain adjuster eccentric at the bottom of it's travel in the original position? I know with the 3G I have you can *gain* ride height by flipping the eccentric adjuster, I think with later generations the bike can actually be lowered without changing the spring rate, preload or the progression of the linkage (which the lowering links have the unwanted side effect of doing) by simply rotating the chain adjuster eccentric to the top of its travel. Chain and wheel have to come off to do it and there may be some other minor changes needed.
