Will be looking to take the vfr off the road soon for the winter and planning a bit of a project, so just wondering as anyone put used racing clip on bars or just any other bars form a different model that would be lower

    I have Vortex clip-ons on the 97.

If you look up my threads you'll see where they sit on the fork tubes. Check the classified ad too for the 1997 VFR ofr sale.

I got into track days and it was a great mod for getting me down and lower on the bike. However, it made the VFR less comfortable on longer street rides and it made really tight slow speed turns (like in parking lots when turing around really slow) harder to do because the clip-ons bump into the dash.

I just adjusted them to the point were I could do a figure 8 turn if I had to. It was a compromise but worth it in my eyes.

My riding pretty much was track only with a few small street rides thrown in for the heck of it. Certainly makes the VFR more sport bike oriented.

My vfr is used for everything so may have to look into playing around with the suspension instead

I would say suspension upgrades are certainly a better idea and well worth the money.

Clip ons are good if you are trying to make the VFR more 'sporty' and ride it as such more often than not.
