Oh man, condolences Jaz. How bad is your foot? Hopefully just strained.

Did the guy have good insurance that will cover the new bike?

Well it's good to hear that you'll be OK and that the insurance part of it is in place. I'm sure that this isn't how you wanted to get an upgrade, but you can't go wrong with the RWB.

Sorry about your crash. Falling down sucks twice as bad when its not your fault. Hammer em on the insurance. No real reason to be super nice to adjusters, if you hard line them you can frequently get to their boss who has higher limits anyway. Good luck.

    ???

Man, I'm really bummed to hear about what happened to you. I hope you heal up fast and that your head isn't too scrambled.

Do you feel up to describing what the heck happened? Where were you and what the road conditions were like? Did you see it coming? Was there anything you think you could have done different (besides sleeping all day?). Do you have a way to get another bike?

"No real reason to be super nice to adjusters"? They have a job to do like everyone else and being rude does not help. I have a good friend who is an adjuster and he tells me that he tries to be as fair as possible, but if facing an a**hole he does his best to stick it to him. It's only human nature.

Wel here goes, It was to nice a day to drive my car, so at lunch I swap to the bike. Well I was returning to work as I approaching the intersection as the light had changed green. I was on the inside lane doing my thing when i notice a red colbalt in the righthand Lane just itching to change lanes. As i was passing thur the intersection the truck in front of the Colbalt decided to pull into gas station. The Young man in the colbalt decided that wanted my lane with me in it. I was looking right him as he yank and stomp the gas pedal and he never check to see if lane was clear. At that point he was Half way into my lane I lock the brakes, it was to late he slam me and my bike into the curb, Lucky wearing the right gear: No Road Rash. But my Left foot was twisted backwards and scraped down the curb before i was ejected off the Bike. Yes, I sleep alot the first two days, Going to ortho Dr. this morning. Yes I will ride again, My Vfr has damage all plastic except seat cover, and Tank, damaged left radiator, Broke upper ,and Left lower, Yire Print on lower right panel, Left frt turn, Seat cowl, Both foot peg L & R, Left exhaust cover, Left Mirror Gone, Upper Cover sub-frame Twisted. Thats Just what I saw. Get this I turn the and She Started!!!! Ether way I'm going to keep this Bike!!!

Yo Rat-- I agree with what you are saying. I'm not saying to be a total jerk to an adjuster. I agree you get better service in all situations by being reasonable.

What I am saying is to not merely accept their first offer purely on the basis that they say that is all you are going to get, or all they are authorized for. I nearly doubled the property portion of my settlement, by logically refusing their offers (which were not fair) and slowly working through the process until the company wanted the file closed and management took charge of the file realizing the front line adjuster wasn't going to get it finalized.

My point is, adjusters are compensated in many cases more by lowering the costs associated with a file. Their goals are in opposition to our friend the rider. They also are in the business of lowballing people and do so every day, thus they are more versed in this type of negotiating. Also any accident is very emotional especially if you are injured, and many of them push people sometimes unfairly. Don't shoot for the moon, but don't accept less than is fair either.

Jeez, Jason, sorry to hear about the accident. Just goes to show what impatience can do those around us. Like everyone here I'm glad to hear you'll recover and that you'll be riding again. Amazing to read that the bike started right up again! Gotta love that V4!

Every cloud has a silver lining and it seems you've got yours picked out already. Good on ya.

And a heads-up to every one else: the cagers are out to get us! Jason saw him coming and still couldn't get away from him. Keep yer head on a swivel and BE SAFE. It's spring for all of us.
