Lost 2 pounds of useless weight today!

I removed the carbon canister and plugged up the lines, I also started to install R+G sliders-made a mistake and drilled a small bad hole, but the second one was dead on-on one side! I don't really care about the little mistake-it adds to the vfr story-she is just happy that I am working on it. I think, I will gut that cat too-for the extra 2 HP!:bandito:

Removing the carbon cannister presents some issues with storing the bike indoors. Gas fumes from a full tank can fill up a garage in a short time.


Don't throw the cannister away just yet.

 

Me thinks not worth it...maybe a catless header yes. Thats my next mod

 

should I just unplug the lines coming to the canister?:tongue-new:

 

Its only in a unheated garage that has leaky doors.

 

They used to only use those carbon canisters on CA model bikes back in the days of yore. I owend one in NJ and used to have problems with vapour lock and hard starts, seems once they get wet with petrol, you need to replace them, the bike used to get filled up all the way to the neck and tipped over a few times. What PITA!!! I removed the PAIR stuff on my bike and plugged up some other stuff in the air box. I hate gov't mandated :bs:

I think water could get in those lines if I didn't plug them up!

 

Never fill these bikes up with gas-it will fall over very easy! Unless your going on a long trip to burn off the gas!

 

Not to hijack the thread, but is there a way to gut the cat? By the way it's desgned, it doesn't look like it to me, or at least it will be difficult w/o cutting and welding

 

It looks like to me-buying a dev headers for around ing four hundred is better than bothering with working with the stock exhaust-at least as far as I can see-I have no welding stuff-that's goping to cost some

 

I think buying a set of carbon slip-ons should be first-try that before gutting the cat-because you would need a power commander if you gutted the cat. I heard of a lot of problems with those PComanders. The carbon canister is easy to put back on!
