1987 vfr 700 i have owned for 6 months. I switched to premium gas a month ago, 2 weeks later it started feeling like it was out of gas, but it wasnt. I can only ride for 20 minutes or so and then it acts if its out of gas agaim. If i let it sit for a few hours it will start right up. I put lucas fuel cleaner in put i think it ran long enough to work. Any idea's?

those fuel cleaners in a bottle, unless they're B12 chemtool, do nothing, zero, zip.

it sounds like your issue may be that you need to pull and CLEAN the carbs. no bottle of cleaner will do that. none.

It does sound like a fuel issue, I am thinking you need to verify that the fuel pump is operating correctly when at temperature. Run it until it fails and jump the blue/black wire to battery to see if it is still operating, they are prone to failure given the age of the beast. There is a relay that operates the pump and it gets a signal from the pick up coil to fire the pump and you need to verify that the pump has stopped pumping and that it is not an issue with the wiring or the relay. When you jump the blue/black wire to battery positive it should run until the bowls are filled and if it does not the pump has most likely taken a dive.
