I was out on a road ride. I am cruising on a cross ridge road and I glance down at the temp gauge and it is near red. It sometimes goes down some then back up. It seems to get closer to the top. Twenty miles go by. Time to stop. I haven't put on the top fairing covers on the bike. I look in the coolant recovery bottle it is half full. Nothing looks amiss. I carefully feel the radiator. It seems hot but nothing sizzling. I get brave or foolish and carefully loosen the radiator cap. No steam, no pressure. I open the cap fully and the solution is just sitting there full to the top. I had just put the new engine in a few weeks ago because of low compression and this was my second or 3rd day on the bike. I start snapping on the connectors on the right side and bumped the green ground wire that is connected to upper right side fairing mount, the gauge goes back to it's normal position well below half way up. If I wiggled it the engine would cut out as well. I guess vibration from running had loosened the mount and hence the ground wire. My engine cooling system had been working perfectly. Maybe this info will help someone else.
