I've begun to focus on a good sport touring bike. Currently, I have an '03 Nighthawk 750, which I love. it's so reliable. Took it to the Hoot in June, rode Deal's Gap 3 times, once in the rain. Note: I got separated from the group I was riding with, and I thought they said we'd meet at the end, but they said "we'll meet at the INN." So, I did it out , and back, and then, in the rain, out again. the VFR seems like the best choice. I commute from March through October, so I'm concerned that the bike be able to take heated grips and/or a socket for electric gloves. I feel that black is invisible in the early morning in the spring and late at night in the fall. And, MAN, I have been cold enough. White seems a bit too police-ish. so I'm waiting for the 2007 announcement at this point. I've already discussed the bike with the dealer. I'm hoping for HONDA RED, because red is faster.
yep, the red is faster. Pretty, too. I have seen threads mentioning heated grips on the VFR, but I don't have them. I have a cruise control, but haven't installed it. Actually didn't see much use for it until I had to do some freeway time this weekend. I do have Heli bars and a givi screen and sargent seat which makes touring a bit easier. The first day for me was awful, but once I got saddlebroke, it seemed to go smooth. But the real fun for me is when the bike takes on the 'sport' mode. I was riding in the gold country around sacramento, cali and when I could get around the cages I was having a blast dragging pegs and raising the pucker factor a bit.
The VFR will be more suited to touring than the nighthawk, I believe. It should be abel to handle heated grips ok. There is a article on how to install some heated grips, just click VFR Info at the top, then click on How-to articles.
