Wondering if anyone can give me a good reason to keep the footpegs on. In my recent trips to the twisties (Deals Gap) I've found myself scraping them quite excessivly, which frankly scares the hell outa me every time it happens. I've got my first track day the day after tomorrow and removed them in preperation. Any reason to put'em back on?

You need a place to put your feet.

Where were you planning on putting your feet during track day, out of curiosity?

Go ahead and take the peg feelers off. I have seen several that were ground down anyway.

    Sorry 'bout that, zoomy!

If you are consistently grinding your pegs in turns, start working on body position. Body position can take the place of lean angle & is quite effective. Obviously, I can't tell you how to do this over the internet, but take a look at the guys on racetracks. If any of them are completely upright on a bike, they should be very easy to pick out. They will be in last place.

    KC-10 FE out...

the hero pegs are meant to be the first to touch down, so that you have a warning, removing them means you are that much closer to something harder touching down, and you might like that less, not that the pegs are made to be able to pivot up, for the very reason of when the touch down, you don't "lever" the tires off the pavement

If this is a constant problem, you might want to look at your rear shock and changing your settings, or an aftermarket one with adjustable length.

Or body position as previously mentioned.

or look at a set of aftermarket rear sets, usually they offer some adjustment, so you could mount your pegs higher.
