There is no information available on VFRs. They are mystery bikes. You just have to buy one to find out anything about them.

They are amazing bikes with super riders!! The 6th gens are hot, but 5th gens are super hawt. Solid bike all around. Comfortable for long distance touring. Can have electrical gremlins. So many threads on this forum about it. Lurk around. ;)

Hopefully the eighth gen turns out to be a VFR with the electrical reliability of the 7th gen and the mechanical reliability of the 2-6th gen.

I wasn't used to a heavy bike. Took awhile till i was comfortable.
Can be a bit "jerky" around town if you let the r's drop below 3k.
    6th Gen

Oh yeah, "Vtec". I have a hunch it's not a performance thing. Might be.
More like emission control. I'd prefer not to have it.

VTEC can be a performance thing, but how the 6th gen VFR800 left the Honda plant, it is an economy/emissions thing, with just a smidge of extra camshaft duration over the 5th gen. In regards to the 8th gen It is very much so an economy/emissions thing, with a smidge of added lowend torque. These 8th gens are getting stellar MPGs.

The Vtec change over is very much gone other than the soundtrack still has the noise of intake but without a decent exhaust it's a little disappointing build quality is flawless almost perfect fit and finish. Emissions are a big key it runs very lean at cold start and have noticed on take off if not enough throttle given engine revs raise when realeasing clutch slightly to prevent stalling
