I have a '85 VF700F. Another member is selling me a set of used F1 slip ons. What should I expect regarding jetting after doing such a mod? I am sure that someone here has done it more than I have so give me a good starting point. Obviously, I should ride the bike and see what it needs, but what should I have on hand regarding jets of different sizes? I'm not sure what a drastic change it will be for my engine's pulmonary system. Thanks-----SS P.S. Hello to all of you and sorry it's been such a long time since I've posted. I know that I have missed much fun but I have been working on a "different" type of bike. What'd I miss while I was gone? Is Tiger Tiger still going? Drewl? Bueller?
F1 cobra slip-ons are low quality bits..... raspy, rattley and loud....nothing like the well-tuned rumble of the better quality cans, and they tend to fall apart and crack too. If you have a Vance and Hines, Yosh, Supertrapps, or Micron lined up, then change, but otherwise, stay with stock over F1. Nice weight reduction however. It's possible that minimal or no jetting changes are needed and only a shim under the needles.
Call Factory Pro & let them know, component by component, which set up you have. They have a database of just about every carb'd bike ever made. They hit the jetting on my Hawk GT out of the park on the first pitch.
