I just got a VF1000R fairing and brackets I want to put on my 750. The upper half is in ruff shape and needs some fiber glass work done. Which I have to learn to do. The windscreen is an after market of some type and has some good scratches/gouges in it plus a crack. I might be able to sand and then properly buff to get them out. Though I don't think it will look that great if it can be done. The factory windscreen is no longer available and I haven't found a replacement yet. Does anybody know of a company that still makes/offers them? This is my winter project to get this fairing in nice shape and painted to the colors of my bike. TIA
Here are a couple. I had a bad experience with MRA but I've heard others had a good one. You can see my issue in post #287 here... http://vfrworld.com/forums/1st-2nd-generation-1983-1989/23087-vf1000r-rebuild-10.html If you don't mind the shield being a little more bulbous, the MRA is a quality material but you will wait a long time to get it. MRA OriginalScreen Windshield for Honda VF1000R (all years) - TwistedThrottle.com A buddy of mine bought a Gustafsson for his R and had some fitment issues. I don't know if its a mold thing or if plastic moves after the mold release but...? You do have to drill your own holes, but they are on sale now!!!!! Do a search for VF1000R Gustafsson Plastics
Yes I saw that site and it says out of stock on all they offer for the 1000. But I did find a place in England that sells the same. Says they are made to order. I may have to call Twisted Throttle to see if they can still get them. Though the Gustafsson also looks good and has the color I want and the price isn't bad. Not worried about drilling the holes. BTDT and have done it with glass also. Thanks for the lead! All right to bother you later if I have mounting questions/problems? Let alone working with fiber glass to repair the upper part.
