Hi, my original plan was to ride from London to Elocotteville, NY, then through the Allegheny Forest, then over to Watkins Glen again. But I recently read the ride report from Warren Milner on the Honda.ca Official Website of Honda Canada Inc. website. He did a tour through Ontario that followed some key battleground areas in the War of 1812. He talked quite positively about the riding on Manitoulin Island, but there was no mention of the road quality. Can anyone comment on how good the pavement is on the way up to Tobermoray as well as Manitoulin Island? I do NOT want to take the VFR over rough terrain. I love the bike and I just do NOT want to beat it up!
I'd also like to know if there's some good twisting roads on the Island.
    Thanks!
    Jason

I've always wanted to ride on Manitoulin. take the Ferry from Tobermory. never done it yet. maybe this season.

Anyways, you may have more luck on gtamotorcycle.com. Or do as I do and use street view to get a decent idea.

For more ideas on twisty roads, there's an app called "greatestRoads". worth a look into

Your bike should easily handle any rough asphalt roads so long as the winter's pot holes are filled with cold pack in a fairly competent manner. You know, these bikes are engineered to ride on roads that are less than glass smooth. Most of my 160,000 + km have been on the freeways but there is also a few thousand miles on patched paved roads. I did rebuild my suspension but that was not until it had something like 140,000 km or so.

I don't know the road you speak of but I am sure your bike will be just fine if that is the road you want to ride. Would be neat going back to see one of the many sights where the Canadians kicked the butts of........... oh shit............who was that rogue rebellious country who got their knickers in a knot over some tea?

Thanks for the great replies. Was unawware of the gtamotorcycle website, and will check it out soon.
Yeah, as for winning that war, uh, hey, I just wasn't involved bro, so please keep letting me into your great country! One thing though. I've lived in Canada all of my life, and trust me, because of the cold weather, we just don't have the quality of roads that you do in places, and I'd really love to experience them. Maybe I really should think about a southern trip instead....
I heard West Virginia has nice roads, but that would involved trailering from London, and it would take a week. I probably have four days max...
Where else could I go from here for twisties and good pavement?

A nice Weekend or 2 day trip which I have done to the states is from here to Coudersport, PA. it's about a 3-4 hour ride there, and after I grab a hotel and ditch the luggage I ride all the great windy roads in the area. Stay the night in Coudersport, then in the morning I grab some b-fast, and head home.

Another one I did it to Ohio. Just South of Zanesville is the 555 and some other great roads.

If you wanna stay in Canada you got the Forks of the Credit in Caledon. River Road in Shelburne. Then further North is the great roads around Elephant lake.
