So I've put a deposit on a 1998 VFR800, and am researching now where to source some of the mods that I am looking at doing. I should delivery of the bike in the next 3 - 4 weeks, so I'm trying to get ready now. I've tried to search as much as possible, so some points will be my udnerstanding to be verified, and some will be I can't find them or am not sure what to look for. Please note, I am in Brisbane, Australia. 1. Helibars - Various sources such as ebay, or even direct from a local distributor Mick Hone - Helibars HON VFR800 98-01 HELIBARS (HB01004) here for $335 AUD 2. MY2K Mirrors - Again, there are various sources, but from what I can gather, the EMGO ones are the nicest and are recommnded by a few people here. Is Amazon the best place? Or are there better ones elsewhere? Emgo 20-37341 Matte Black Right Side Replacement Mirror for Honda VFR 800 : Amazon.com : Automotive for $65 odd for the pair. 3. Seat - Instead of going the Sargent seat, I will most likely get the original reupholstered here, and get it shaved at least an inch. 4. Lowering - After the seat is done, and if the bike needs to be lower, I think that I will switch the "triangle" setting, or go for one of the Lust Racing lowering kits like this Honda lowering kits | CBR 1000RR, CBR 954RR, CBR 929RR, CBR 900RR Fireblade lowering kits | Honda CBR600RR lowering kits, Honda CBR1100 Blackbird lowering kits |LustRacing.co.uk for about 55 pounds. 5. Electrical Gremlins - Whilst I've got the bike apart, I'd like to sort out the reg/rec issues. And this is where I am a little "grey". NOw do I go for one of the Complete Mosfet Kit FH020AA kits from Shindengen FH020AA Mosfet Regulator/Rectifier. If so, which kit, the Complete or one of the Super ones? And by installing / replaing this kit, will it resolve the known issue on these bikes? This is where I'm hasy. I'd like to replace the parts that are likely to fail, just to have peace of mind and to ensure that it is sorted. Are these kits what I need? And I think that is it. So any other suggestions or guidance would be aprreciated. Apart from these, I will be doing the usual oil, oil filter, air filter, coolant and possibly fork oil changes. Looking forward to getting the bike and customising to suit my needs and then just riding it and riding it and riding it.....
