LED Gear indicator

Does anyone have an aftermarket LED Gear Indicator? If so, Any suggestions on a brand name and how hard was it to install?

 

I got the Digi gear indicator. Bought it from Actionstation.com The bohnarmor people. I was one of the first to put it on an 02 Vtec and soldered the wires on. I did a detailed write up on the actionstation website.
They now have a new model which is supposed to be a plug and play unit. I recommend them, it is a nice option.

 

I have the Acumen one for my 01. I bought my 1st one at Americade and it wasn't even the right box so I wasn't surprised it ony lasted 1 year. I replaced it and no problems. The wiring directions are very specific for each brand and model and not hard to do or solder on. The most difficult part is getting the upper fairing loose enough (you really don't have to get it totally off, just out away from the dash) and the factory service manual helps.
As for Reg's question, too many times I was reaching for "7th" gear. Also I ride with either earplugs or music through my chatterbox headset (cd or mp3 player) and don't hear the engine well. Before I got this I would find myself on the highway, singing along, forgetting to shift and in 4th or 5th gear, ruining my lovely 50mpg. I wouldn't be without it.

 

Mostly to save time...without an indicator...one must perform some type of calculation/guess in their head i.e I'm going X mph at Y rpms and therefor I must be in Z gear. Qucik data recognition (i.e. digital gauges instead of analog) means faster/more reliable decision making.

I also have issues (only now and then) thinking that I'm in third gear...when I am truly in second and down shift....resulting in "clunking" it into first gear.

 

I have one that was first installed on my '02 CBR600F4i, and on that bike it was helpful because I was always going into a corner one gear too high, as well as always trying to shift into 7th gear. When I sold the F4i I moved it to my VFR, but I don't use it as much and only look at it once I'm on the freeway and at cruising speed just to make sure I'm in 6th.

As far as installation it's not that hard, although you will need a wiring diagram to locate the correct wires to tap into.

 

hello, maybe can someone to tell me what indicator fit to vfr 2001? And how to install it?

 

My wife made me fit one on her bike because she is pedantic. No real other reason than she feels that everything has to be pidgeonholed and verified. :bs:

 

Hey TX....This may help. I really like the Acumen Gear Indicator (Plug n Play). The harness is well built, but I'm upset about the quality of the gear indicator. I've had mine for less than a year and the top part of the indicator has come unglued, and of course moisture has gotten behind it. I contacted them by email, but was given the response..."you can glue it back.":bs:

My 85 Honda Sabre had a digital gear indicator and I miss it. I dont "need" it but it sure is nice to never have to remember what gear you are in.
