I was looking at the diagram on bikebandit.com and that looks to be a sealed unit. Not being too familiar with the workings of LCD, I am thinking something may have burned out. But check simple things first like the connection it might be loose or one of the connectors might be corroded causing a bad connection. Bikebandit lists the unit for $366.49. Ouch. If you have a service manual it might help you troubleshoot the issue. You can get one thru a dealer or Helm Inc.

take the nose fairing off, and replace the little light bulbs. Pretty sure there is one on the top, and one on the bottom. Just a standard "peanut" bulb will work (194).

If I was wrong about the LCD unit, I apologize. It was hard to tell from the online fische if there was a bulb behind the LCD unit and the unit itself looks to be sealed with no way to fix backlighting.
