Hi, just wondering if anyone has attempted fitting leds to the clocks/instruments back light and to the body and what is involved? Colours for a blue 02 recommendations would be appreciated.

I'm thinking of adding l.e.d's to the body e.g behind the fairings, over the front wheel, over the rear wheel and maybe the spokes of the rear wheel if possible. Again, if anyone has done this then advice and colour suggestions would be appreciated.

Note, Blue body lights are not an option as they are illegal on any vehicle other than emergency services.

Not really my cup of tea, I think the average age of VFR riders is a little higher so you don't see those types of mods / customizations as much as you see them for comfort / functionality ... most of the bikes I've seen this done to are CBRs and R1s ... I would just do a general search on those forums and apply the knowledge here.

The instruments already have led's, but if you want to change them from that ugly yellowish color to something else, you can remove the whole cluster and send it to a specialist. There is a guy here in the US (in New York) that does a very good job... http://www.bluegauges.com/motorcycle/vfr800.htm

I can't speak for other places but those lights under the panels and fenders are illegal here. Seems a few have them though and police don't seem to bother them. Yet anyways.

Ideally, for sight reasons, our cluster lights should be red. Red will not interfere with your night vision. But after all the night riding I have done,. I cannot say that our present instrumentation panels lights have bothered me in the slightest, Except the high beam indicator is a bit on the bright side.

Back in the day, high beam indicators were red. I have no idea why they changed them to blue. Maybe so they stick out more and people would refrain from driving around blinding people. That failed. But on some vehicles, they need to tone down the brightness a bit. My truck is awful that way

I did red LEDs to my 06 and I love em. Told the wife they're for better visibility/safety - but they're 90% badass factor :stung:
I was lucky and found 5 red LED strips on Craigslist for $20. The strips are about 10 inches long with about 15 lights per strip. Each radiator opening has a strip inside at the bottom; opening in fairing at the bottom has one strip pointing at the ground; rear has a strip over each muffler (no issue with heat). These strips have the lights molded inside a silicone rubber strip that nothing wants to stick to. So, mounting to the inside of the fairings required one velco strip attached to a well cleaned fairing, and the mating velcro strip was wired to the LED strip. Holding well after 9 months, including Tucson heat. I hard wired to the battery and used an in-line fuse, and a lighted-switch that I mounted inside the front fairing near the right fork. I also looped some extra wire inside the fairings and used bullet connectors so it's an easy off without yanking these tiny wires. Hope a picture shows up below... Let me know if you need a wiring diagram.

I think I have a plan, thanks for the tips. Here the lights will need to be independently switched but I'm going to run off the side lights with an option switch for them. Plan something to alternate colours but in a different way to what is out there at present. I'm hoping it will pay off.
