Hi Guys, was hoping someone knew of any good mechanics with experience and knowledge of the V4's in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada?

My VF1000 is in decent shape, cams are pretty good but the tensioners need to be changed. Could do it myself but would prefer someone who has more experience with these engines.

    Thanks

    Pat

You may get better response if you post some pictures of this "alleged" bike?

Not sure how a pic will help with my question.

All it is is an 85 VF1000F that I would like to do some work too. Just hoping to find someone out my way that knows more about these engines.

Nice to see that you have a good sense of humor. I know the pic doesn't have anything to do with your question but was I was implying that we all love the classic VF's around here and would love to see a pic. Lighten up a bit, nobody likes to help pricks

    Funny Toooooo

Hey Rollin, I got a chuckle out of your first post that's why I sent the "crazy" smile. I was trying to be funny too. hehe! I do appreciate your sense of homour.

I don't have any pics yet but had read your mind, hope to post some soon. Bike's half apart though. Cam's look pretty good so am going to yank the engine in the next week and start pulling the top end to get at those damn tensioners.

Say, while I got you online, I was reading an old thread somewhere talking about an internal oil line upgrade to the engine. The author mentioned drilling out the oil holes from 1.2mm to 1.5mm and that he had purchased a "honda" upgrade to the oil pipes that parrallel the cam chain. This is obviously different than the external oil upgrades. He may have been talking about the Magna. Have you heard about this mod?

Again, thanks for your sense of humour. Keep in coming.

    Pat

Might try PM'ing member JamieDaugherty on the internal oil mod.

Pics would be cool, like seeing the old 1000F's.

Hate to say it, but the Honda Dealership under the bridge has been my best experience in Van. Their main guy Ty has been at it for 30 years. He knows everything about Honda's.

What ever you do, DONT take it to Modern on 12th.

That would probably be Carter Motorsports I believe. I am happy with my dealership 60 miles east in Chilliwack. Big Top Motorsports. They also have a sdealership in Abbotsford 20 miles closer to Vancouver but I have never been there and have never dealt with their techs.

Thanks guys. I called Carter Motorsports on Granville and they still work on these old girls. Ty is still there.

I really appreciate your help. And I will post some pics of my girl on the weekend.
