Knocking noise when bike is tilted to right?

    My 86 750 has a knocking noise when the bike is tilted to the Right? I took off the cover on the right side of the bike(where the dip stick is) and there is a sprocket that just sits on a pin that goes into the cover, Would this gear be the thing i hear making all the noise? When the bike is on the side stand or stright up it sounds great, does anyone elses bike do this?
