Hey! I've got a 92 vfr 750 with 60,000 on it. Its been making this knocking noise (mostly at low RPM only) for a few months now, and I recently noticed that it goes away when you pull the clutch lever. I have heard that this is normal, that its the transmission, that its the clutch basket.... The bike runs and shifts great, and I'd hate to let something like this go and create bigger problems. Anybody have any advice or similar experiences with this? What are the easiest and cheapest things to start checking out and fixing? cheers! Jimmy
Don't know how bad your noise is, but apparently it is quite normal for the clutch basket to rattle a bit, something to do with a conical washer on the basket. I think there is a thread on VFRD about fixing it.
Carb sync will smooth out the knocking. 1/8 turn on one sync screw can be the difference between knocking or not. We don't need no stinkin VFRD
How bad/loud is the knocking? My 06 had a quiet knock in the clutch since new. Had 30k on it when I traded it with no adverse effects.
