Has anyone had a key get miserably stuck in a gas cap? I have my one and only ignition key stuck in my gas cap and am not able to get it out. It wiggles back a forth, and open the cap from the tank for removall but is not hard stuck in the gas cap lock mechanism which I have currently hosed down with penetration oil. This is a new one on me.

Nope. Do you have some small tweezers? Two spring hooks? Are you Gene Simmons? :)

Press hard down on the cap (like with the key between your thumb and forefinger) before trying to turn the key.

    Cap,
The gas cap is out of the bike and on a bench. It came right out of the tank when I turned the key. Now that it is out I am not able to get the key out of the lock. I did try pushing down on the key to turn it. It actually turns very easily, but the little spring loaded latches are not moving fully into the lock housing with the turn of the key. I am assuming that the lock is totally dried out inside? I am wondering if soaking it in brake fluid or some other semi slippy stuff would free whatever is stuck? Again the key turns both directions, however with the key to full unlocked position it feels like something is totally jamming it in the lock? I may take it to my local shop to have them throw it in the ultra sonic bath over night? I got my pilot screws in the mail today so that is a step forward!

    Thoughts?

Oh. You have to press the ring like it has been installed on the tank.
Fingers on the ring, thumbs on the top of the cap.

The cap will click/snap into place, the key will turn and it can be removed.

Is that what you're talking about?
