Anyone with my generation have issues with HID's being too hot for our housings? Just curious. If not, I'll be ordering some tomorrow as these factory lights leave much to be desired - plus I am a lighting whore... Thanks!

No problems at all. They are brighter, but consume no extra power, so are not any hotter. FWIW, I would not swap the high beam bulbs.

Thanks guys. How come you don't recommend high beam bulbs? On my 98 I've got H4 bulbs, dual high/low. The kits I run on my other vehicles are bi-xenon HID's, which run an electromagnet to move the light shield which produces a low and a high beam.

I don't recommend the high beams because I have a 6th Gen bike with separate high/low bulbs. With all four using HIDs, the high beams offer almost no additional illumination and can't be flashed. I didn't notice that you had a '98, so please ignore my advice!

That's why I figured you were trying to talk me out of high beams :) No problem, though, thanks for offering advice! I was going to go with a 55 watt setup, but 35 watt HID's are more than enough most the time for me. In this case, with no projectors, I'd rather blind oncoming traffic as little as possible.

I'd suggest the 35w high/low bixenon.... 55w just may be too much for the reflector housings. You should be able to get by with the 35w without it being too obnoxious to oncoming traffic. I'm going to be doing my 6th gen at some point... put a kit in my car from DDM Tuning... great prices and seems to be a solid set of ballasts/ignitors/bulbs/etc.

I have a 55w 4500k DDMtuning.com kit coming. It is going to be installed in my high beams. Hopefully nothing melts. The housings are big enough that I'm not worried about it. I know people warn against warm up time when using them in high beams. I don't think it will be an issue. My riding partner has a ZX14 with HIDs in his high beams. I am always the lead. Whenever he lets those bad boys shine, right off the bat I see my shadow in front of me as soon as he turns them on.

Good part about the DDM kit is they are a soft start setup. They are current limited to 6A when turning on cold. This has been confirmed by various independent tests I have found while searching around. $63 shipped to my door is not bad at all, including lifetime warranty.

Thanks guys. I personally run VVME kits and have been for 3 years now in all my vehicles. My Silverado has low beam projector HID's, 55 watt, 4300K. My Wrangler has H4 bi-xenon HID's, 35 watt, 4300k, and 55 watt, 4300K in the off-road lights.

The kit for my bike cost me $68, plus shipping from China. Usually takes approx 2-10 bus days to arrive depending on customs. I will post photos of the installation if I get a chance during it.

BTW: Anyone have photos of them installed on their bike, preferably my gen? Looking for beam shots against a wall at night, and output shots on a roadway as well. Thanks!

Reg, I put the HID LOW/HI on Jason bike not to long ago......................Where have you been?
Jason love the light. I guess the Hi/Low kit would cost around $70. I paid $100.00 few months ago. The price is going down fast.

Long, did you put in lights for Chick? I certainly would like to upgrade my lights. However, Chick did mention that at a track day, her lights melted the tape. I think she used yellow. Hard or easy to do? What part did you use?

These are the bi-xenon (HID low/high) H4 kits available from VVME: http://www.vvme.com/bixenon-hid-conversion-kit-h439003-bixenon-hid-kit-c-44_46_35.html

For your '07, Marrib, what bulbs do you have for lows? HID installations shouldn't take more than say 30-60 minutes. On a bike, it may take a little longer since you need to remove the fairing and such to find good mounting locations for the ballasts. VVME has slim ballasts, but I had issues with those back 3 years ago. I've been running either the regular 35 watt or the regular 50/55 watt ballasts.

The lows on the 6th gen are H4s, but they are only wired to use the low beam filament (i.e. when switched to high beam, the low beam stays as is and two upper bulbs come on. Thereby wasting the second filament in the H4 bulb ... not sure why Honda did this......)

Odd! Well, here are their H4 single beam HID kits: H4(9003/HB2) HID Conversion Kit,hid kit

Now remember, being based in "Delaware" aka China, if something goes wrong with a ballast, they usually require you to ship it back and then they ship a new one. Typically, it's just less expensive to order a new ballast. With bulbs, I had 1 go bad and they just shipped out a new one. It's hit or miss. I've only had 2 problems over 3-4 years of use with their kits and both were resolved to my satisfaction.

I do like them Reg, however, without a different diffuser, the HI beams are useless....on the other hand, the lowbeams are so friggin' bright you don't really need them.....but you will get flashed from time to time.
