My name is Neil and i just picked up my first Honda VFR on wednesday. It's a 00 and i think i got a good deal at $3000. Its was well kept and has some upgrades like intake, exaust, power commander, and a sargent seat. The body is in good shape with the excepting of some small scratches on the right faring (so if anyone knows of a good touchup paint let me know). Also i took some pics of the other bikes in the garage.

The reason i bought the vfr is because i needed a bike for longer trips and since these bikes seem to be well cared for by there owners. Also i like the sport bike looks.

    Thanks for the welcome.

I do think i got a good price for it but i realy wanted a red one (the yellow is a little to flashy for me).

Now all i need to do is get it in good order again. I bought those headlight rings on ebay since one of the stock bulbs was burned out. Any recomondations on a good h4 bulb besides piaa which i can not justify spending that much for a light bulb? Also i need to get rid of the exaust. I don't care for the gold color that much and will try to trade with someone for something that matches yellow a little better.

It's a shame the riding season is over but it gives me something to look forward to next year.

Welcome Curtis. Great deal on a great bike. If you truly aren't happy with yellow you might be able to find someone to trade, but having yellow makes yours even more unique than VFRs already are. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, though. Red is faster. ;)

$3000.00  What a steal, the seller must be some depressed Steeler fan giving away all his prized possessions

    Exhaust

If you want a stock exhaust I would be interested in making a trade and $ for the exhaust on your bike. By the way nice bike and welcome.

    Hi Curtis, welcome.

That yellow would be a good primer for the RED top coat.

I use Silverstar H4s in my '94, cost me about $40 at WalMart. I saw those rings on eBay but couldn't figure out how they worked. Some have just bent the tabs on the bulbs so they will fit, but I just took a Dremel to the slots in the headlight bucket and made them wider.

You made out like a bandit on that deal. I kinda like the yellow and seems to be rarer than red. I paid more than that for my '98! Some guys have all the luck!

Ok, MAybe i got a little lucky on this one but i am due.

I took the bike for a little ride today (just down the block) and i did notice something that i think may be wrong but im not sure since i always had shaft driven bikes before this one.

When i do a low speed/low rpm shift i hear the chain kinda making a binding/slapping noise. Is this normal? The chain looks dry and in need of some lube but would this cause that noise? Maybe i need a new chain but if i can cook this one in oil to save it since the rollers look to be in good shape so it can't have that many miles on it. Sprokets look to be in good shape also.

well, the bike has probably been sitting quite a bit given how low your mileage is so you probably lube it up and make sure your adjustment is good. I wouldn't think you'd need a new chain yet. As far as the noise goes, try lubing it up and adjusting then see if it happens before you decide.
