Daytona to NSB so not too far but.....
.......I figure it's always a positive if you can ride a newly purchased bike home. :scooter:

Showed up in FB MP Saturday - ad was 3 hours old. Jumped all over it - and I know it would have been gone if I didn't.

Even though I already own some Interceptors.....I always wanted one of these, if just for the historical value.

Needs some cosmetics and of course I'll be going through the mechanicals little by little. But seems to be mostly original so that's pretty cool. And the fairings are all there and not all cracked and stuff.

    Stoked! IMG_1376.JPG IMG_1378.JPG IMG_1379.JPG IMG_1386.JPG

Congrats. Glad you found what you were looking for. Pretty lucky to get home on an unknown used purchase. Have fun with it.

Yeah. I've done enough buying and selling to pretty much know how trustworthy the other person is. This was a good kid and I could tell he was being 100% honest with his assessment. Of course I made sure the basics looked OK before riding her home - the fluids, tires, etc.

Feels good when a transaction comes together with little effort. A lot of it is paying attention to those red flags. I mean we've all been there, right?

I gave the seller full price too with zero haggling. Like I said - good kid....

    Thanks!

I mean - I have a small trailer and could have just trailered her, as I have so many others before her. But have to say it was nice not having to do all the ratchet strap stuff - always a bit of a challenge - and really and truly - I wanted to RIDE my new bike...right away! :)

With the afternoon-evening rains holding off, I took her out for a short run tonight. Added air to both tires - 31 front, 35 rear. Felt much better than yesterday's ride home.

Also no helmet so I could listen to and hear the engine/gearbox/exhaust better. Everything sounded good. I did hear a couple rattles I will have to track down. Probably something minor.

At some point I hope to take her somewhere I can open her up more. I can tell......this machine is SCARY fast!

And it's not like it's my first Interceptor. I used to take my '87 to work on Saturday's (Port Orange) and that section of US1 was ideal for short bursts up to 100 or so. I mean with that bike you'll get there in about 3 seconds....lol. Then back down so you don't get a ticket.

The speedometer on this machine is hard to read. I think it's that red coloration. I saw a couple YT vids where the numbers up to 75 were all in white and they showed up much better.

Also the throttle seems a bit too sensitive. Will have to look into that. I shouldn't have to concentrate so much on regulating the throttle like I do.

I also discovered this bike has a center stand!

Think I will get what I need for an oil and filter change and then maybe go after the coolant, etc.

I'm still on cloud 9!

RAD!! Glad you are having fun with it! I am taking out Big Red tomorrow to commute. Excited to get some miles under my belt after all that time on the lift. :) Less than 200 since the rebuild.

Having trouble getting my seat off.

Just turn the key and pull up and back, right?

Which position is the key supposed to be in when removing the seat...north-south (pic#1)...or east-west (pic #2)? Thanks for any help!

Thanks - that's what I thought it would be. Should come right out, right? Pull up and backwards?
