This battery weighs 2 pounds, the amg battery 8 pounds. Seems like a great way to save some weight and also maybe a better charging system. I will take the Shorai out when it gets cold. From what I read its actually a 6amp battery when cold not a 18amp-it should be plenty in warm weather-well I got a month to test it or send back.:stickhorse::spy::bluesbros::evil:

Perhaps the lighter weight will assist you in not dropping your bike so much~

It should help a bit, 5.8 pounds it saves plus its a 18ah battery not 11 ah like the the amg. The hardware for the bags added about 5 pounds. That's a 1% reduction in weight, but its fairly high up ,so it would feel like more weight was lost.

I put a Shorai battery in my Sportsman 500 and even when the garage was 35 degrees F it started just fine with no signs of slowing down. When the VFR needs a new battery I'll be getting one for it. Shorai highly recomends that your charging system is in tip top shape!

I think ,this is a very cool battery and might help the bike start up a bit faster because its rated at 18ah instead of stock amg of 12ah that's 1/3 more extra juice. and the loss of 5.8 pounds is nice.:gun3::banana::bluesbros:

Have had a Shorai in my VFR since last Sept. No problems so far (including over winter) and I don't use any external charger on it yet.

It's a battery, it starts your bike. What else is it supposed to do?

I think this battery could fly in a plane its so light, but what does it do-saves 5.8 pounds has 33% more starting power-is smaller and holds its charge for a year-that's about it!:saturn:

Right now from what I understand, the jury is still out on its overall longevity. See who it works in 3 years after some neglect, cold weather, hot weather, and vibration take their toll.

As far as the weight, my body weight fluctuates 5-7 lbs. easily. I'm still undecided whether it's worth the money. I've heard of a couple that bit the dust pretty quickly, but they could have been flukes.

33% more starting power. Mine does a fine job of starting the bike, what exactly will 33% more starting power do? Start it 33% faster? Like I said AFAIC the jury is still out.

My understanding is shoria had some duds and fixed them-like bad terminals. Any way three years is better than my amg was only 0ne year. I use amg in cold weather and take shoria out then. But above 45 degrees I am guess the battery should work. Who knows?

I don't have a shoria battery charger but you can use a battery tender Jr charges at .05volts, so I put it on charging with the Deltron. It is suppose to be charged at 60%, but I think it is a good idea to throw some low volts on it. This battery retail for $189-I paid $145. One other note buy the shoria LFX 19A1-BS12 for a extra 1amp-that adds the retail price to $200-same weight as the LFX 18A1-BS12. When green Light comes on pull the plug.:kiwi-fruit:

no one sells the 19 amp version except shoria, so the $145 is the best deal.

this shoria battery is really good so far-I took off about 7 pounds, battery lose 5.8 pds, cowl removed-1 pd, refectors on the side 8oz, battery tender wire removed -8oz= around less than 8pds taken off. I noticed a big difference in handling. The shoria also is 33% more powerful than the stock type by 33% and the lights came on very strong. I don't need a battery tender unless it real cold.:funky::hat::ranger: Next mod the pipercross air filter being shipped from London.
