so, i got a 1986 honda interceptor vf500f 2 weeks ago. hoping someone can shed some light on my problem. i took the tank off drained the old gas, reconected, rigged the ignition and after about 10 or 15 min of cranking it while the bike was hooked up to jumper cables it finally fired up, the idle is obviosly too low because i had to hold the throttle down a tiny bit to keep her running. the next time i tried, the bike only took about 10 min of constant cranking with little breaks to finally fire up. but yesterday i tried and nothing! absolutly nothing no matter how hard i tried, no matter where i placed the choke no matter where the throttle was held. it didnt even "put put put" a little. why could this be? some things you should probably know the clutch and front brake cables are dry i havent filled them with brake fluid yet. but i dont think this would affect the bike not starting, unless for some reason the clutch has to be fully engaged. any help/ideas would be much appreciated. oh also, i loosened the carb drain screws and gas came out so i think it is getting fuel but maybee not enough? or is a mixture screw i can change? do my carbs maybee just need to be cleaned? would that make sence considering that it has ran a few times and sounded good when it did? carbs out of sync maybee? idk. thank you all for any help you can shed on the situation.
