I just purchased a 93 VFR750 for $1400. It has 50,300 miles on it. It runs great, but has a few issues. Its idling low. When I come to a stop, it will shut off if I don't keep the throttle turned a little. The second thing is when I was driving it home last night, the neutral light was coming on periodically. The bike also needs a front tire. And the body has the usual wear and tear but nothing major. Other than that, everything else is great. No leaks that I have found.

Was this a good deal for $1400?

$1400 could be a good deal.

Tires, I like the Michelin Pilot Roads, others like other brands.

Idle speed screw is located on left side at leg vent. Look for a white plastic thumbwheel.

Neutral light is usually tied to shifter. Could be loose, could be malfunctioning.

Download manual and check it out.

$1400 is a great price assuming there is nothing major wrong with the bike mechanically. I looked at 3rd Gens for a long time and spoke with about 6 or 7 people over the past year who were selling. The prices ranged from $2000 (fair condition) to $3500 (excellent condition.) For what you paid I would have expected the bike to either not run or need some major work. I was ready to drive to Kentucky from Atlanta to purchase one when I finally found one locally that was in excellent condition with @ 40,000 miles. I got it for $2600 and it came with brand new tires, aftermarket pipe, and extra tinted windscreen. Congrats on the bike!!

    Regards,
    Rollin

The issues above are the only true problems with the bike. I adjusted the idle last night so she is running smooth. In fact I rode the bike into work this morning. The guy I bought it from was selling it because he owed someone some $. He was asking $1,600 for the bike but I put the $1,400 in front of him and he handed me the title and the keys.

I guess money really does talk.
