I just (as in two weeks ago) bought my first VFR. It is a 2003 6th Gen (Silver). It had 7090 miles, had a few scratches from either a VERY slow lowside, or perhaps it slid down a hill from an improperly deployed kickstand. Felt like a good deal though at $3400. Thoughts?

Based on the recommendations of this thread I have already placed my order (and received) a set of Helibars and a pair of Delkevic Slip-ons. (Stainless since I spent the money on the Helibars too). Plan to install soon, have an inconvenient business trip next week. :mad-new:

    Pics will be added soon!

    Congrats, you will love it.

After years away from riding, I bought a 2003 like yours a couple of years ago. Your next upgrade should be a Power Commander, it will iron out the roughness under 3K rpm.

ADH77, welcome. That is a beautiful bike, but then, there are not too many ugly VFR bikes. The miles are low like mine. That normally means that it sat and has not had most fluid changes in 10 years, which means there will be some repercussions. Once you have examined everything in detail and refreshed any issues, you will have a better idea of real value. That said, I think one reason that bikes rapidly depreciate is because the norm is to not take care of them. Also, that bike of yours will go 100,000+ with you taking care of it. So in the long run, our used VFRs are really an unquestionable value. I paid $3300 last year for my red 1999. The guy seller would not budge any further, and it needed a major refresh. So to me you did quite well.

Can't go wrong, I have an '02 and its fantastic! With such low miles you likely won't have any electrical gremlins yet, but they are prone in a few key areas... I'd second a PCV, it makes a big difference in low-speed throttle control and VTEC transition, and with the right fuel map it will keep you grinning! Enjoy!
