just bought a 2000 vfr800

Hello Everyone,

Me and ebay on sundays probley are not good money wise for my credit card. well i was on ebay today and bought this bueaty a 2000 vfr800 i like the color blue i had not seen it before now on a 2000 but i thought it was a great deal at $ 1800.00 well i think i got a deal ???? well maybe it needs some engine work. it runs for about 100 miles and fouls the sparkplugs with gas ? i thought in 2000 there are fuel injected ? so it couldnt be a carb problem so i was thinking maybe poor spark or a controll mod. ? any body have any ideas ? and was this color factory ? thanks for the help

 

That model is fuel-injected so definitely not a carb issue. However I'm not a total expert on the VFR and according to the service manual it could be one of the following:

Pinched or clogged fuel tube
Variable air intake port malfunction
Faulty pressure regulator

I have no solid idea though and you might have to consult with a mechanic.

 

that was the bike in AK correct?

I didnt want to drive from Ohio to get it .. your going from cali?

i am so stoked, i have been reading and i dont think it a big deal too fix, i sure cant wait untill it get here oh i have a friend in the shipping industrey so maybe withen the next two weeks

Yes your correct its in Ak, i was checking out the Threads and in between the post i saw a ebay add with the bike ending in 20 mins so i email the guy and he called me and i bid and i was the only one to bidder ? wow i dont care i wow it

Keep us informed on what it takes to fix it, cosmeticly it looks great and for a mechanic like yourself who knows their way around an engine, it looks like a smoking deal...

I looked up the eBay listing and with the foreign plates and the blue color on a 2000, I'm surprised the instrument panel & speedo isn't in the metric system...

 

I was wondering about all that earlyer today ? the plate makes me wonder and its in AK.

 

hey, i found out today that the bike was first bought in AK. and the factory paint code was yellow, the lic. plate was just thrown on to look cool, so now that makes me feel better take care .
