Earlier this spring I wrote up an introduction for this forum while in the process of purchasing a Anniversary VFR located in Virginia. Unfortunately, some unfortunate events (getting t-boned in my car) prevented me from being able to own the bike. It was soon after sold, oddly enough to forum member ChasingChaos (I stumbled upon his purchase post).
I was pretty bummed but it seems now that perhaps it was meant to be...SO HERE WE GO AGAIN!

    Bio: Ivan Bissett
I'm a 23 year old, action sport and motorsports fiend. I'm new to the forum. I currently reside in central Ohio and work at Iron Pony after earning my Mechanical Engineering degree at OU. I've been racing dirt bikes since I was 5 and have been refining my road prowess on my 1990 CBR600F...the Hurricane. I named her Katrina. Too soon? :playful:
Additionally, I've been riding BMX Freestyle for about 7 years now. I've traveled across the country hitting skateparks and I compete in local contests as a sponsored rider at every chance.

The CBR was my Dad's old racer and I spent the better part of a summer building her up from the 2 (and a half) he had in pieces. This involved work on almost every component on the bike with the exception of the bottom end. It was a enriching experience and I was able to return to college with it and spend the semester touring the amazing routes around Appalachia including 78, 328, 329, 550, 628, and the intense 555. It's a wonder I didn't die on the ancient, rotten race rubbers I was sporting...but god was it fun anyway! New tires brought the bike to life and I have been able to put some very enjoyable miles on it.

I did a lot of thinking about what kind of bike I wanted to transfer to after the sporty but somewhat relaxed riding position of the Hurricane (at least by today's sportbike standards). During travels to and from college and to other distant locations I found myself loading the CBR like a mule...full book bag, big tank bag, shallow crate bungied to the tail... But hey, ya do what you gotta do, right? I knew I wanted a bike with bags, not just for loaded commutes but to do some serious traveling this summer before I throw my carcass to the machine that is a full time engineering job. At the same time, I wanted something that was sporty enough for a young man like myself. I rode my Dad's ST1300 and it was AWESOME...but I wanted something a little more aggressive.

So my search began for the ultimate sport tourer...and after a million hours of Google searching and reading spec charts and reviews of a bunch of different bikes...I started falling in love with the VFR800. That led me here...to this database of knowledge, opinion, and tinkering that is VFRworld. I'd like to thank you all for your indirect influence in falling in love with Honda's VFR800.

    Now for the exciting part...

Due to my lost VFR purchase this spring I put searching for a new bike on the back burner. But last week karma graced me as perused Craigslist and stumbled upon a loaded and meticulously maintained 2006 VFR800 with 42k. By loaded I mean Ohlin's rear shock with remote adjuster, Race Tech gold valves up front, Sargent saddle, Heli bars, Honda marine voltmeter, MRA Vario touring windscreen, Power Commander, and all for a decent price. Not to mention with a couple of the mods i've seen described in these forums. And all this in near immaculate condition.

Long story short...I bought that bike last week!

Black wasn't initially the color I had in mind but I just couldn't pass this bike up. I've logged a little over 500 miles in the short time I've had her. Some commuting to work, most on a two day twisty-fest through Hocking, Athens, and Perry County here in Ohio. So far I couldn't be happier. Even when fully loaded (tank bag included) the bike handled marvelously. I'm love the spacious hard bags. My only current complaints are that bike is set up a bit stiff for the original owner and that the VFR's gas milage is not great... I calculated 40mpg over my trip of pretty sporty riding. Regardless, I'm really happy with the purchase and can't wait to return to the Appalachian twisties this July.

    STOKED!

Iron Pony you say?! I go up there all the time. I love the guys in the luggage department! Kenny & Mitch have an uncanny ability to remember someones ride months after they have talked to them. When I had my Nighthawk they spoke lovingly about it and when I got my first VFR they congratulated me and it seemed genuine.

On to your VFR, congrats! She looks great and you scored some VERY desirable upgrades too!
