Hello folks, I am about to re-enter the cycling world. I have my eye on a 1998 VFR800i with low k's and sold through a shop I trust. What I am interested in are reflections from you owners of the same year stock bike as to its particular nature/personality to you. Sincerely, JohnC
Welcome John! I have a '98 and love it. Besides not having a cat, and auto fuel enricher(98-99 has a fast idler for cold starts) there is not much else different from 98 to 01. I have a two brothers exhaust for a nice mellow sound, a double bubble windscreen, oxford heated grips, givi hardbags, and besides a few other knickknacks, she is stock otherwise. Good look in your decision.
welcome. buy it. you'll more than likely love it. http://www.motorsports-network.com/honda/vfr8test/vfrtest.HTM http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/honda/1998-honda-vfr800fi-interceptor-15064.html pretty much everything you read will tell you it's an awesome bike. smooth power delivery once you are past 10 mph or so. It's a little hard to get used to low speed maneuvers on the VFR with the weight and sensitive throttle, but once it's moving the weight dissappears and you are riding one of the smoothest bikes around. I can honestly say I like this bike more than any bike I have owned and I have been riding for 30 years. It's probably not the best at anything, but it is outstanding at lots of things.
