Dose anyone have any pro's and cons about the Joe Rockey line of jackets? I want to either get an Interceptor or Meteor 6.0. Dose anyone have a preference to one or the other? I live in the desert 105+ deg in summer and 27-60 deg in the winter.
Any links to check out for reviews or your general input?
    Thank you.

I have the Joe Rocket VFR jacket, pretty similar to the Interceptor.

Overall I really like the jacket. It has been extremely comfortable, in both hot and cold weather. I've had it everywhere between 38 degrees to about 115 degrees. It has lots of vents that get good air flow. I found the zip out liner doesn't keep you SUPER warm, would be best to put a fleece or hoody on underneath in colder weather. I actually made a thread about it earlier this year (click here).

The only con I have probably won't pertain to you.... Being a girl, the jacket isn't cut for my body type. I find the chest area fits well, but its HUGE in the stomach. There are lots of size adjustments on the jacket though, it helps customize the fit quite a bit.

    Hope this helps!

I have a older version of the Ballistic 7.0 and the wife has the VFR version. The Ballistic is defiantly longer and has more pockets. It is designed to be a touring jacket. It also has a collar that comes up that you can Velcro to help keep the wind from going down the front. The VFR is also a very nice jacket. It is a little short through the body and no collar. The Honda logos look very nice. Both jackets have a nice amount of adjustment and have held up very well to daily riding in all types of weather.

I would defiantly recommend trying that jacket on before buying one. Make sure you try it on with the clothing that you would most commonly be riding in. Take the liner out and try it on again. Ebay is probably your best bet for finding a good price.

I have a JR mesh with two liners, but for the life of me I can't recall the model name. It's a great jacket. Good fit, versatile, comfortable, and an excellent value.

My Joe Rocket Alter Ego stuff got me cross the country and back. Almost two years old and still doing good.

Lately though, I've noticed a lot of crappy zipper pulls on their current stuff. I was helping a buddy shop for gear and ended up taking two different Rocket items to the counter with broken zippers.

I think I watched another member here break a zipper off on a ride a few months back...

So, look at some other brands doing mesh.

I have three for different purposes. The one in my to the left here. It's a two piece that I don't think is available and probably my favorite. It is perforated and is great for the warmer days, though we haven't had seen too many of those this year. But it is definitely lacking in pockets. One small inside chest pocket about big enough for your DL and a cell phone.

I have a JR GPX Type R 2 piece for the fall and spring. Way more pockets and certainly warmer. It can be vented not too bad at all so will do in the warmer climes so long as you are moving. This was my first and if you got caught in traffic snarl, it was a bugga in the hot sun.

And finally I have a Meteor 6.0 jacket and Alter Ego pants for winter here. I love this textile suit however it with its liner is not quite warm enough for up here so I wear a heated vest as well. If there is no snow, I ride and am really very comfortable in temps well below freezing so attired. Warning though on the textile. Be very careful when washing. For that matter I would avoid this. It looses a lot of it's propellant and I have yet found anything to bring it back to where it was when new. But I am still trying. Have been in touch with Joe Rocket but the lady I deal with has not had much luck in their factory getting back to her in what they use on the fabric originally

In a bit of a hurry right now but will get back to you. Problem with Joe Rocket has nothing to do with zippers and I have three suits. I like the suits very much though. They replied to me via e-mail today and things are looking good for them and me. I will post up later when all is said and done.

So... Here's the scoop on my Joe Rocket issues,

As I have said, I have three suits by JR. One Textile, one full leather and one perforated leather. Actually one is a two piece suite while the other two are mix matched jacket pant sets. Also two pair gloves and boots. I have been very happy with them all although the boots are not as warm as I would like.

One of the suits is the Meteor 6.0. along with a pair of textile pants. I wore them all last winter commuting in the rain and they did very well. But the winter road grime paid it's toll so I washed the jacket according to instructions. It lost most of it's water proof qualities.

I made contact with JR on line to find out how to weatherproof this thing again. Options were provided. I had asked what was originally put on the fabric so that I could acquire some and re apply this stuff to bring it back to the state it was when I purchased it.

A few suggestions were given except that they did not give me the answer about what the factory did to the material. The woman I was dealing with claimed the factory was not answering her request. She can accept that but I do not.

One of the suggestions they gave me was to apply tent seam sealer to the jacket. Well I did this and cosmetically destroyed the jacket. I would not wear that jacket now to work on a greasy car. I took photographs and e-mailt d them to JR complaining that by following their suggestions, my jacket was destroyed. I told them I was expecting some sort of remedy immediately.

That e-mail was sent on Sunday evening. When I got home from work today, I had an e-mail from JR advising me that they were going to send me a new jacket, actually an upgrade to the Alter Ego 2.0. Now I can't expect any better than that. And their response this time was as fast as one might expect as well. Now I willl have to wait to see how long it takes for this new jacket to arrive. If it is as quick as this last response, then I have to say, JR did in fact treat me very well. I did suggest to them though not to make that tent seam recommendation again. II don't think that anyone there actually tried this.

I have read several people here having problems with the zippers on their JR stuff. I have had absolutely no problem that way on any of the jacket/pant combinations or the boots. I don't know where the others are having their problems. One might suspect too much confections consumed over the years might be a contributing factor here, but this is speculation on my part.

So kuddos for Joe Rocket from my point of view right now.

Go to top right under "My Settings-Edit Profile. Then to near top left side under "Your Control Panel" Scroll down to "Settings and Options" and click on "Edit Avatar". That should get you going in the right direction. Then all you need to do is figuere out how to attach pix.

A friend of mine had two Joe Rocket jackets and he says they're pretty good for the price. He's had issues with the zippers plus there are some loose seams but nothing really major. I would say it's a mid-level quality jacket for those with a budget. If money is no object I recommend AlpineStars but they can be pretty expensive and Joe Rocket can do the job just fine for you.

I wear a Joe Rocket Alter Ego jacket everywhere i go, and its been well over 100 here in texas a lot this summer.....with the outer shell off and wearing it as just a mesh armored jacket, it breathes surprisingly well. as much as id like a leather jacket to wear, id buy another joe rocket in a heartbeat. (though i cant speak of any other jackets, as the only 2 ive owned so far are joe rocket)

I have a JR Ballistic jacket. It has been great so far. Cool in the summer, here in England (isn't it always?), and nice and warm in the winter with the inner lining back in. Having said that, our seasons are not as extreme.

Any words of wisdom on JR tank bags or is there a silver and gold standard when it comes to them?
