Was searching the New Enough site for textile jackets. The Joe Rocket Ballistic 8.0 and the Scorpion Shock textile jacket both appear excellent. Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with either of them.

Other opinions I'm looking for are: jackets with water bladders: worth it?

And: waist length vs. 3/4 length jackets.

Any opinion / advice is appreciated.

The JR 8.0 looks similar to this jacket Honda Collection Nirvana Touring Jacket - Street Bike - Motorcycle Superstore

I have the previous version. Joe Rocket Honda Endurance Jacket - Street Bike - Motorcycle Superstore

This jacket works great in COLD weather. I ride in below 30 temps to work etc and have no issues for the commute to work. I like the shorter jackets like the CBR jacket for Hitting the curves harder. If I was touring in cooler/cold weather I wear my longer jacket.

Sorry, I can only speak to the JR stuff.

    Me likey Scorpion

I'm running a Scorpion Cool Rod jacket for my warm weather riding. Seems to be a great quality jacket at a good price. I am actually on my second one as I wrecked with the first. Jacket did it's job and kept my skin on me instead of the road so I bought another one!! I don't know what you're looking for but I have a JR Reactor 2 for sale that dosen't fit me quite as well as the scorpion does. Check out this link if you're interested: JoeRocket.com. Mine is RED size SMALL. Perfect condition $100+shipping.

That Scorpion Cool Rod looks like a good hot weather jacket & gets a good review on the New Enough site. Thanks for the info.

I have a Joe Rocket Ballistic 5. I think it is about 4 years old. I'm 6'2" and big, Size 3X Tall. The #8.0 looks like it has many upgrades vs. my 5.0. The 5.0 is great with elbow pads and shoulder pads all in the right places. Plenty of pockets and the venting is good. (Two zippers in front of arm pits.) Very warm in cold weather. I rode in 44F weather without the liner. I do like this jacket for cold days. I have worn it in 70F and 80F days but it is hot at a stop or going slow. On the VFR it is slightly too long in front and also in back it seems to bunch up. Remember mine is a tall size. The jacket also seems well made but it is heavy. The jacket still looks and works like it is brand new. I still like this jacket a lot and I know it will offer great protection if I go down!

For Christmas I am getting a Tourmaster Pivot 3. This Jacket is shorter, lighter, has better venting and will zip to my Tourmaster pants. This jacket is a 3X but is not a tall size. My plan is to use the Tourmaster in warmer weather and still use the Joe Rocket when it is colder.

    Hope this helps.

I've been riding for a year with the Scorpion Hat Trick- killer jacket for all temps and fits great. Way better than the JR Alter Ego I also own. The Scorpion Exo pants are real good also!

I had a Ballistic 7 that leaked in heavy rain on both arms from the elbows down. It also leaked through to my celphone (the pocket was full of water!).

The jacket was very warm, but too wet, so I had them replace it with the 8.0. I really prefer the 8, and so far am dry. So's my new phone.

I ended up gettingthe Joe Rocket Ballistic 8.0 from New Enough. Excellent jacket...very good venting system for the front of your torso, plus a removable liner for the cooler weather. No issues riding with a 3/4 length jacket. Armour fits the right spots comfortably.

Also got the Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants, good & comfortable.
